Progress of my GT40
I'm in the process of fitting the body panels and they are a real bear but I think I'm winning the battle. The frame is finished except for the suspension. I didn't want it in the way while doing the bodywork.

Looking Goooood!!!!
Keep up the good work, have to get it done by June! |
"BT" looks great, I"m tempted to take a drive down there and see it in person if that's alright with you. My brother has a resturant in Scottsdale so free food could be had!
|
Hersh,
I repeat what Sprayguns says! :) It looks there will be at least 4 of them critters here for the next DVSF! Think maybe you guys will deserve a block of your own! Can't wait to see that baby! DV |
Sweeeeeeeet! That really looks great Hersh! What color is it going to be?? What engine combo are you going with?
Mike |
Looks Goodm Hersh. I can't wait to see it on Sunday.
Ed, How about 5. |
THANKS GUYS !!
I plan on painting it Titanium with Black stripes. I will run a
302 engine but I still don't know what horsepower and specs I want to put in it. I'll probably know by Febuary..I do have the weber syle injection for it already. These are really beautiful setups. Spraygun, it's good to see you are still hanging around the board. I haven't seen you post for sometime. DV, I really want this thing ready for the Fling. Thats why I'm putting in overtime to get it done. Boy I hope there is twenty GT40s show up. If the word gets around it could happen. Gordon, it looks like a full house for Sunday. I think its gonna be a blast. Having to stop working on the GT and clean up the garage sucks but it has to be done. ST, you come by anytime. Glad to have you visit. I always like another set a hands around when I'm working. And I never turn down free food !:3DSMILE: Hersh:) |
Hersh,
Looks great! Question: How's the glass quality on the RF kits? You think there's a lot of prep work or no? |
Oh--there she is...
Good job on the pics!
Nasty looking devil--I bet you're having a ton of fun--looks like she'll be a Sweeeeet Thang. (302 FORD-right?):3DSMILE: |
Jamo, I just spewed coke all over myself ! I just now noticed the
Senior Sheepherder thing. :3DSMILE: It's taken me ten minutes to get my composure back. I tell ya if I need a good laugh all I need to do is read some of these posts. Yes, the engine of choice will be a 302. I haven't as yet decided as to how I'm going to build it. I may keep it mild for more touring enjoyment but with a little more than average HP for some fun track and possibly some hillclimbing events. John, the RF has really smooth glass. It won't take much in bodywork to make it really nice. The only thing so far is the fitting of the body. It's not easy but niether are any of the other kits similar to this. It's just a GT40 thing. The seams are really all that need a little attention. Hersh:) |
Alright, guys
Let's stop being so nice to Hersh. I you keep this up his head will not fit into the 40.:3DSMILE: :3DSMILE: Looks good Hersh. See you Saturday. Mike |
mikie, repeat after me, Sunday, Sunday, Sunday. Got it.
|
Gordon,
I'll be at Hersh's both Saturday and Sunday. Something about needing slave labor on Saturday. See you on SUNDAY!!!:JEKYLHYDE Mike |
Seat back angle?
Hersh,
Can you give me a ball park on the degree that the seat backs in your 40 are? Maybe a pic of the seat in place, if possible? Thanks! |
Neal, you have mail !.
Hersh:) |
Hersh...
...Gracias, Amigo!
 |
BT SNAKE: That looks like a fun build....how much are they?
|
Absolutely incredible Hersh! It boggles my mind trying to imagine having to decide which car to drive - the Cobra or the GT40!
The first real article I ever read about GT40s was in a British mag at a friends house a long long time ago. The article was about an awesome fly-yellow street GT called "Yellow fever". It had just broken that mag's test acceleration records previously held by a 427 Cobra. There were no pics of the Cobra but the description in the article had me intrigued - I just had to find out what a Cobra looked like. The photos of the yellow GT40 had me though, and to this day when I dream of owning one, its painted in that stunning yellow with no stripes. Your paint scheme sounds nice too and I can't wait to see the finished product. May your build go smoothly. |
Thanks Buzz !
The GT40 is a different animal than a Cobra. The Cobra is
a little more wilder handling than the GT. I have always been partial to coupes rather than an open car. The neat thing about the GT is that you can build it to suit your needs whether it be touring or road racing. I just happen to think it's a little more versitile than a Cobra. Man I'm gonna love that air conditioning ! I'm still fitting all the door handles, lights and panels to the body. I should be able to start the body work in a week or two. The GT40 make the Cobra look like a puzzle for a 3 yr old when it comes to building and fitting. Hersh:) |
Buzz,
The cobra gets handed over to his wife when the GT is done. After that, if he wants to go for a ride in the Cobra he must get a kitchen pass from Paula. Mike:cool: |
