'Nother Head Shaker

Went to a local parking lot car show last night and after I parked and killed the engine, some old woman, dressed like a man, thanked me. Naturally, I thought he meant I'd improved the neighborhood a little, but when I aXed wa fo, he said for "turning off the noise". I said "what", he repeated, I said "what", he repeated again so I finally quit messing with him and just aXed him if he didn't like the sound of horse power. He moved his chair to the other side of his very nice '67 GTO and we didn't pass the time of day. Maybe he wa confuzed and thought he was at a craft fair or something.

How in the world can someone be offended by the sound of a Cobra? Actually, that's a very sad story. He's missing out on one of life's true blessing. Oh well.

Danr55 03-22-2014 09:06 AM

Let me guess,,, his GTO was a 389, 4V, automatic with stock mufflers.. cloth seats and factory tires..

Scotchman 03-22-2014 09:22 AM

Karl's cobra is louder than the detonation of a 1000 lb bomb. I'd still rather listen to it than my wife !:JEKYLHYDE**)

RedSnake351 03-22-2014 09:59 AM

Scott, I'd rather be around your wife than I would be around Karlos!;)

That's when everyone who wants to hear the engine, gets a quick fire up and 5000 rpm blip......:)

... yet we classify these cars as "obnoxiously loud" and many wear ear plugs

Mother 03-22-2014 12:02 PM

EH? At least the Muppets driving the mersadies and breamers give the noisier cars a wide berth.

Maricopa 03-23-2014 07:03 PM

Maybe he'd just come from the pride parade?

mikiec 03-24-2014 05:19 PM

You're going to find these ass wipes in all sizes and shapes, driving all kinds of cars. As far as I am concerned these snobs are not really car people.

Karl you had a huge opportunity to have some fun. Should have started the Beast at least once every 15 minutes.

FWB 03-24-2014 05:46 PM

he's just too used to parking and not driving....GM guys do a lot of parking and sitting

I hear ya, been to a couple of car shows myself. Really enjoyed looking at the fully restored matching number entries; Olds 442, Chevelle SS 454, GTO Tri-power 400, Boss 429 and if you're lucky maybe a Dodge Charger Daytona Hemi. Sooner or later some ass wipe will show up making all kinds of ruckus (as if that's the right to passage for these events), but in a hotrod kit car with a cobra body slapped on it. They idle around as if looking for the red carpet parking spot lol.

Maybe there should be a section for the hotrod guys just outside the fairgrounds where they can make all the noise they want. Everybody would be happy, hotrod guys outside can fight for the red carpet parking spot, serious restorers and audience inside can appreciate authentic originals brought back to excellent condition. What ya think ass wipe?

Danr55 03-25-2014 08:14 AM

Well there is the fact that Karl's car could be used to clean streets.with the exhaust lowing out the side like it does.

Karl Bebout 03-25-2014 09:32 AM

Mikiec, sounds like you ruffled somebody's feathers. How will you ever sleep at night?

One thing AL427SB forgot to mention when he was listing all the "numbers matching etc" cars was all the 40-50 year old cars with 1200+- miles on them. I know that the vast majority of us would buy a brand new super duper muscle car and promptly park it away for decades, without driving it. Yep, fer shure!

AL427SBF 03-25-2014 10:01 AM

Naw, just funnin' with the mindset that believes entitlement comes with cobra replica ownership. If you're gonna show up with a sense of inflated self-worth, at least be a recognized humanitarian, otherwise your just an ass wipe :)

mikiec 03-25-2014 12:22 PM

Hey AL...

Nobody in this group has a sense of entitlement about anything, especially Cobra ownership.

@Karl. Me loose sleep??? Never happen.

BAsque1 03-30-2014 09:40 AM

It's just a V8 with sidepipes, another replica owner who feels entitled to be obnoxious

hinoonaz 03-30-2014 12:04 PM

My Replica Cobra has a blown engine. I can't imagine how that happened. I am going through withdrawal for lack of throttle blips. I would even enjoy Karl's leaf blower (chevy sorry). Even though an JBL is a replica, it to can do throttle blips anywhere it wants.
Enjoy,Gary
