Route 66 Done and Done

This was the first time I did the Rt 66 fun run and what a hoot! Had a great time, told, and heard, lots of lies, ate plenty of good food, and spent lots of money on fuel. No mechanical problems and Mr. Bill and I got back to East Bumscrew at 2pm. Glad we left Kingman as early as we did. If we'd gone to Oatman and Golden Shores, we would have been several hours later, and very well over done. Plenty toasted as it was but we both used plenty of sun screen and long sleeved shirts. Would have been extra ugly otherwise.
Thanks to all that made the trip, even Pete's buddy Ed. Gonna do it again next year, as long as the Oxy holds out and does its job to keep me from being crippled. btw, THE COOKIES WERE EXCELLENT!

Scotchman 05-04-2014 06:45 PM

The cookies were great, thanks Ginny ! The Bourbon was tasty as were the stogies, thanks Pete and Ed; the Rookies did good. Great to see and party with everyone. I know you guys liked my music, Searching for Sugarman. I got home around 10 am. Karlos, I think you had the baddest car in Kingman. :MECOOL:

thanks everyone! Ed and I had an absolute blast. We took the long route home going over to Flag then down thru Oak Creek Canyon...you'll all love that I got stuck behind some slow ass jerk creeping his SUV down the hill at 3.5 mph, so we had no alternative but to turn around and go back up, FAST, then come down a second time. That done we then took a leisurely cruise the rest of the way home.

Thanks to all for the good advice and Mike thanks for bailing me out with the fix-a-flat. Tire held up all the way home. Hope to see everyone again soon.

Another great trip. We all made it back in one piece. Had a few problems, flat tire, hanging exhaust & no brakes. Nothing unusual. Always a good time. Here are a couple photos:

Now, here's a special video. Typical Mikie. Had to cut his burn out short because there was a 98 year old in a wheel chair in front of him.

Brakes? Someone lost their brakes? Tell me it wasn't Bill!

mikiec 05-05-2014 07:40 AM

Bob is being dramatic.... Brake lights were out on Carnut's tiny motored, for Dan, Mustang, this was in addition to a muffler bracket that broke and caused some loud ground scraping. Bill never uses hi brakes.

Karl Bebout 05-05-2014 08:52 AM

" Bill never uses hi brakes"

Hench the name "Bumper Bill".

BobB does tend toward the dramatic.

For those that did not make it to Oatman,

"Cute tiny motor". You can't forget that Carnut's tiny motor is "cute".

It was a great adventure. Lots of interesting cars and people. It should be noted that the 98 year old in the wheel chair is a very famous Japanese artist who was absolutely thrilled out of his mind with the ride he got from Bumper Bill. It was a good trip.

Sooooo,,,,,,,,,,that's how it's gonna be.

Breaker breaker, big Dan. I hear Peterbuilt wants to showcase your engine in their next catalog.

:)

Car Nut 05-05-2014 10:36 AM

And Mikie, you are a great baiter.

Regardless it was a fun trip even if I had to spend half a day on my back under a car that was low for even a skinny guy to crawl under.

Thanks to Karl and Jim for helping from the topside. Thanks to Ginny for letting me borrow her car to get parts and thank to the Mrs. for the flashlight and keeping the guys from doing mean things to me whilst I was stuck under there. That could have gotten ugly.

Karl Bebout 05-05-2014 11:22 AM

Bruce, the view from above was pretty ugly anyway. Thought about going to the grocery store for some Crisco to grease up your belly so you could slide under the 'Stang a little easier.

Car Nut 05-05-2014 12:36 PM

And thanks to Karl for changing his mind on the Crisco, Salsa or whatever his mind was thinking of.

Fitz 05-05-2014 04:21 PM

Was there something going on this past weekend?%/:confused:

Karl Bebout 05-05-2014 05:13 PM

Fitz, just wake from your nap?

You shoulda been there. Pretty big fun, nice weather, and a whole lotta great cars.

Fast289 05-05-2014 05:33 PM

Looked like a fun trip. Lots of good pictures, I am not sure if the color is off on my computer, but one car looks orange.

Cheers

Dave from Chandler

Danr55 05-05-2014 05:42 PM

Dave, get your computer fixed! Karls car is gold not orange.

Karl Bebout 05-05-2014 08:12 PM

Copper, Kopper, Copper!

I've been told that the "orange' car is not really Chevy Orange, just looks like it in pictures.

Danr55 05-05-2014 09:33 PM

Gold. Cadillac Pimpwagon Gold. Copper is a metal not a color.
