Coronado Trail Run 2014

There was some discussion about another run up Coronado Trail in September. So there will be a run. I will call and arrange for a discount at a motel in Springerville and post that on this board. Before I call, I'd like to know about how many are interested in making the run. Usually leave Apache Junction early on Saturday morning and run to Morenci. If there are folks from Tucson that want to go, we can meet up at Apache Gold Casino east of Globe or in Superior, their choice. We fuel in Morenci and then start up the mountain. It's a great drive from Morenci to Hannigan Meadow. We stop at Hannigan Meadow Lodge for lunch then drive into Springerville for the evening. Sunday morning we head out across the rim toward Showlow where the Tucson folks head south toward Salt River Canyon and home. Phoenix crew heads into Peyson and down the mountain home.

If you are interested or think you may be interested, please sign in here and let me know. I would like to have a rough idea of how many before I call the motel.

A date is a good place to start ! I'm going if I'm not in SoCal. Maybe the Rookies will come with a touch of Bourbon.

If we are in town we are interested in going.

Karl Bebout 05-07-2014 07:35 PM

I'm certainly interested and I think my sweetie will go along. Thinking later in the month will be cooler weather.

Karl, we usually do this run in early September when it's cooler in the high country. I'm just trying to get an idea of who might be interested.

The SBD Gang is ready! (Scott-Bob-Dan). Fun trip, you all should try it. We've done it twice. Lots of turns. Marvelous scenery. Good lunch. Plenty of drink and dinner time. Even breakfast on Sunday is great. inexpensive motel with convenience store and gas station in parking lot.
This should be on your bucket list.

Bob or Dan,
How many total miles up and back?

Bob Broberg SPF667 460BB 05-08-2014 12:25 AM

Bill, my milege door to door is about 600 but never felt pushed. For one thing I have stayed overnight Friday at Dan's home. Full of cigars and single malt and saved 50 miles.

GFOG, The complete trip from my house is 516 miles. In two days, that's not bad.
