Newbie Phoenix FFR MK 3 owner

Hey everyone! I was on the FFR forum and got the invite to join. I'm in Phoenix N.E. area (Tatum Blvd & Greenway)
I had been waiting for for the right time to purchase an MK4 at the end of 2014 but was browsing one day and saw an MK 3 built in 2007 from Illinois that I could not pass up for the $$. The previous owner used a 1990 donor 302 and suspension. It runs great but it is not much in the looks department right now. The paint is the thing I want to attack 1st. It was a first time attempt by the builder and it didn't go well to put it mildly. I've got to get a few miles on it to get it out of my system first so maybe I can settle in with patience to do some prep work spring of next year. In the meantime I'll have to enjoy it how it is. Good thing is that I can drive it already while I plan for long term projects to slowly upgrade it as I can afford it. I have a 351w in the garage to stroke to a 408 eventually. Overall she reminds me of the MGB's I had restored when I was alot younger. You can see the potential that it has. I work quite a bit so don't have a lot of time these days however, I've come to know the value of great advice on the forum though. I hope to make some new friends along the way and can meet up with you all as my schedule allows.
Thanks for your time!! Eric

Welcome to the forum. There are lots of great people here who can answer any question you might have.
There are a lot of Cobra folks in your area, as well.

Hi Eric and welcome to this little band of miscreants. This forum is the best way to hear about what events some of us might be involved in. A few things first:
No rules.
No meetings.
No dues. (Regardless of what some,Danr, might say)
No whining.
If you show up, great, if you don't, tough sheeet.
Beware those people NOT from the East Valley. They'll tend to lead you astray.

Hi Eric,

Welcome! Glad you pulled the trigger and invested in a roadster. I have a similar setup as yours with a MKIII and 90s donor although there are only a few donor things left by now. I, too, am upgrading as I go along. You should have a ball driving the MKIII. Good luck.

WEK.

Thanks Steve, Karlos & Wek for the welcome....

Welcome to the madness in AZ. Beware of some Cobra owners that have the wrong firing order and wrong colored blcok.

I am around Greenway and 18th St; go over to Kierland all the time. Drive the Toy if not over 100. I got a little 351 in mine as well. Welcome...%/:rolleyes:

ArizonaCobra1 05-21-2014 12:47 AM

Thanks Gary, Dan, Dave,Fitz. I look forward to meeting you in the future. Soon as I figure out how to upload I'll post a picture so you'll know if you see me tooling around.
Gordon, You have a fantastic reputation. I may want to discuss paint options next year. My goal is to pretty much have it 90 plus percent prepped to h enjoy the process but also to save a little dough where I can. ..

It's easy to upload a picture.
While typing your post/response look up for the "paper clip looking" icon, click on it.
A new window will open, click on "browse" and that will take you to your desktop allowing you to choose a picture you already have saved in your computer. Once you select your picture click on "upload" and your done with the picture.
Finish typing your post and click "submit reply"

Hope that works for you.

Eric….welcome to the forum. Karl, Dave, Hector, Bill and a few others are here on the east side. Karl, Mike and Bill all have lifts. So, if you need a "lift" give us a shout.

ArizonaCobra1 05-22-2014 03:36 AM

Thanks Dave for the welcome!
Mike, I appreciate the hospitality regarding the lift. Very nice!
I'm sure I will want or need it at some point.

Dan, Thanks for the instructions. Apparently it's not compatible with uploading from a Droid. . Said file upload failed. Well, soon as I fire up my pc I'll post some pictures..

Posting pictures for a phone is much harder and completely different.
I was able to do it in the past but it took for ever and had to be hosted from a outside source.

Pmiller176 05-22-2014 09:03 AM
