ItBites 07-11-2014 04:29 PM

Since I wrecked the wife's 2013, I may be cohersed into a 2015...

philminotti 07-11-2014 05:44 PM

Check again. The 10.8 was on drag radials. Still damn impressive though.

Danr55 07-11-2014 06:17 PM

drag radials, track shoes or tennis shoes... that's fast for a production vehicle!

Fast289 07-11-2014 09:34 PM

That's fast, no matter what shoes!

I am looking forward to wild horse motor sports park in the fall. I hope to get under under 12.5!

Fastest Muscle Car Ever,

Here is the article they had on it out here. I have only seen one MSRP on it though and haven't found out what one would really cost.

Lets see what it runs on stock tires, which makes all the difference, take your cobra down the track on BFG radials, then on drag radials, the difference could be seconds, plural, cool car...

fordracing65 07-12-2014 06:00 AM

Anyone who thinks the 60's was the height of the American Muscle car is dead wrong, it's right now, 2014...even my little BMW pushes 525tq, at 1400rpm, diesel...

great website. luv the 2 keys, red (track) and black (daily driving).

Thanks Phil. Somehow missed the fact. Guess I was tingling too much to catch it.

Maricopa 07-12-2014 08:50 AM

I'd still take the '71 (then sell it and pay off my house, kids student loans and buy the new Challenger).

Read the article.....stock tire speed and ET are in there.

fordracing65 07-12-2014 02:53 PM

.4 seconds difference from stock tires to drag radials, they need better drag radials...

Karl Bebout 07-12-2014 04:16 PM

There's a lot to be said of the driver's skill and experience. More to it than stomping and steering.

NewYorkGuy 07-13-2014 07:02 AM

Richard Rawlings of Gas Monkey Garage did 10.80 in an automatic Hellcat
(skip to 01:39 of video to see drag race against '71 Hemi)

Fast289 07-13-2014 06:56 PM

I saw a show on the Vipor TA (Time attack). Very cool, stiff, light, aerodynamics and orange. I liked it. Can't remember other details, it looked fast not moving....

Karlos,

You mention that driver has something to do with the stock tire ET, but these cars have launch control. You press the brake, push the launch control button, put your right foot to the floor, release the brake on the second yellow... And it goes. Thats probably why the difference with DRs is only 0.4 sec. Not much more to it than putting your right foot to the floor and steering.

Karl Bebout 07-14-2014 12:46 PM

Hi Eric, wonder just how quick the car would have gone with a really good driver, not to say that Richard isn't. I don't know, but I've always heard that 'vettes will run quicker with the traction control off since, I think, the brakes are electronicaly applied to slow the tire spinning. Just knowing that the hot dogs runniing fendered cars would use it if it made them faster.
