Looks like disaster has struck. Pete lost a read del.in his transmission and had to pull out.
|
It's the diff. Shredded. Charlie has her and I'll get numbers in a few days. Looks like a new rear end minimum. Three hour wait for the tow too. Not how I wanted to spend a great sunny day. Youse guys have a blast and a drink in Scarlett's honor. Will catch you on the next one.
|
Oh, and I'm drinking ALL the bourbon Scotty. But we can buy more for next time.
|
Pete. You're. Of the worst you're just the first. Karl wrecked half way up the mountain. We are waiting v on pictures.
|
Oh **** sorry to hear that. You guys be careful out there.

I should have had my trailer on standby. I hope everyone is okay. Dave from Chandler |
WTF. Carl, I hope your injuries are limited to fiberglass and ho gold paint. Well and maybe a little pride. Please let us know you are okay.
|
Karl is OK, but his car is another thing.
|
I SWEAR it was a coyote or dog or some little hairy brown man in the road and I swerved to miss it......
Actually, I hit a little gravel on the side of the road in one of those curves that just keeps coming and tried to climb up the side of the mountain. Definitely glad it was on the side of the road with the mountain rather than the side with the rapid decent. Now THAT would have been really bad. I didn't get a scratch or bruise, but the pimp-ho-gold slutty-butt didn't do so well. The harness did its job, almost too well. As I was hanging from it, I saw lots of gas coming out of the carb but fortunately didn't drip on the headers. I did renew my efforts to get out of the harness. Some plastic damage, a couple bent rims and ruined tires, a broken shock and it looks like I may have bent the frame and definitely some of the steering/chassis parts. Hoping she can be fixed. The deputy sheriff didn't site me but the DPS guy gave me a good driver's award, or failure to control for conditions, or something like that. My insurance will be thrilled, as is my sweetie. Thanks for everyone's thoughts. Maybe the third time will be the charm and I won't have to worry about fixing the car? |
Glad you're OK Karl. I saw the pic of your car on it's side. Wow !

So sorry for Karl, the group found out 50 miles later.:confused::confused:
We need a system to communicate front to rear. Other then that and Pete losing his rear end we all had a GREAT trip. |
Pete,
Sorry your day got ruined. I don't know if I was bummed more about your car, or not having any Bourbon Saturday night ! The guys brought plenty of scotch. Adrianna can testify to that ! |
Wow Karl, glad you got out unharmed. That pic is something. Rooting for you that she can be fixed.
Scotty you'll be glad to know I managed to drink most all of the bourbon last night. Moving pretty slowly today as a result. Love all the pics let's see some more! |
So sorry to hear about Karl's accident. My heart goes out to you Karl. We found out 50 miles later at Hannigan Meadows Lodge from Chris the Lotus driver. Not much we could do except empathize.
Pete, your problem would have been bad enough all by itself. Your car died in the middle of nowhere. How'd you get cell service between Globe and Stafford? Finally, since Pete's bourbon was missing, Scotty decided to try drinking Springerville out of Scotch. He succeeded. Last man up on Sunday. Great trip, almost no rain. Could be perhaps a week later in the year. AZ Bob |
Karl,
I see your famous mug, an ice chest, and what looks like the housing for a headlight on the ground. Can you post us pics of your front end ? |
Karlos... To quote a friend, WTF? I'm at a loss for words...and that is saying something. I'm glad you're OK. Other than your crash and Pete's blown rear end, the trip was actually a lot of fun. The weather cooperated other than a few random drops coming into Eager.. Like Bob said, maybe a week later next year..
|
We started Saturday morning with 9 cobras. Good turnout. Last 2 same trips were 3 each. Boy are there a lot of turns. From bench racing Saturday evening everyone lost it to a degree on some corner somewhere. I know I did too. My luck was it was an inside corner so all I did was wander over the center line.
Weather was with us. Except Bill who arrived late helping Karl. He looked good wet too. AZ Bob |
Geeze, Karl. I said drive wisely, not use the side of the hill as a birm to go around the corner faster! Glad you're ok. Bummer for the car!
|
Hey Bruce,
I was trying to develop a new parking technique for parking in real narrow slots, but I don't think I'll be able to sell the idea. |
...and a hot time was had by all. I hope you realize, Karl, it could have been alot worse and we're all very glad it wasn't!
Seems like trips like this always shake something loose. Just coming back into town I started hearing a weird sound from my car. All gauges were reading good and motor running fine so continued to the house. When I got out i found it...driver's door latch had vibrated loose and was hanging by one screw. Anyone else lose something? All in all that was a BLAST! They say N to S is a whole different animal. Mike |
