Marine's Toys for Tots 2014

I have had no luck in finding a connection to the Marine's Toys for Tots program for this year's toy collection. All phone and e-mail listings are false, non-existent or don't reply. Apparently we had the same problem last year. I even went to the national level in Washington DC and they referred me to local which doesn't reply or answer. Their records are old also.
I also called my brother, a retired Marine Colonel, and he couldn't help either. I didn't think he could from Fort Wayne, IN.
We can still collect toys, but no Marines in uniform and we will have to deliver the toys to a collection depot. Like last year.
The local Coordinator Eric Mendez phone and e-mail are false.

Did you try the local recruitment office?

Maricopa 10-27-2014 02:43 PM

I just called the # on this link and talked to a very unenthusiastic Marine who told me that there would be more information up on the site next week. Said manpower is down and they are having trouble finding people to send out.

Bruce, yes I have. Got voice mail and no response, then got another phone number with voice mail and no response. Mike, thanks for helping but I have gotten the next month and next week responses since August. Maybe when we get closer to Thanksgiving.

A sign of the reduction of our Military Forces. Please say thankyou to you know who.

DWRAT 10-28-2014 03:53 PM

Mikie's gone for 1 month and were already having problems.
I can't wait for the snow to set in so Mikie can come back home.

mikiec 10-28-2014 05:29 PM

The news out here is talking about snow already. I still have not read the instructions for the snow blower.

mikiec 10-28-2014 05:31 PM

Hey Bob,

Have Dan S get into his marine dress blues to accept the toys. LOL LOL LOL

Danr55 10-29-2014 05:17 AM

If you're talking about this Dan S, I've never owned Marine Dress Blues.. I had Army Class I dress uniform and weighed 156 pounds. About what my left leg weighs now. No chance. Hey Mikie, how's that snow blower fit Ginny's hands?

mikiec 10-29-2014 06:08 AM

My bad. Thought you were an old Jar Head. Who was the Marine in our gang?

Mike

Danr55 10-29-2014 06:46 AM

I believe that Ron was a Marine at one point in his life..

We are collecting toys at my office for the kids at the Phoenix Children's Hospital. Lots of them are stuck there for the holidays. So if you feel like joining in a new and different cause you would be extremely welcome to.

mikiec 10-29-2014 03:45 PM

I like that idea. What say you all.

Bob Broberg SPF667 460BB 10-29-2014 06:55 PM

I am not opposed to changing the destination of the toys. Bruce, if you are willing, will you accept the responsibility for collection, registration and delivery? I saw the event forms and the Wish List for toy selection on this site: Toyland - Presents for Kids in the Hospital over the Holidays | Phoenix Children's Hospital
I must admit I was a bit afraid of all the paperwork. Like these:

We all appreciate your generous offer. You will most likely need a truck. Life would be simpler if we could just piggy back on an existing program, or if it's allowed to just gather toys and drop them off.

Bob,
I already have approval as we are collecting from patients at the office. I'll collect and catalog everything and get it to the hospital. I guess the only thing to check is that our party is before the drop off deadline. I may have to drive my daughter's truck to the party instead of the Black Mamba.
Bruce

Danr55 10-30-2014 05:57 AM

Bruce, will the truck spin the wheels?

Bob Broberg SPF667 460BB 10-30-2014 08:23 AM

Thanks again Bruce. I drop off the tables on Thursday before the party and pick them up on Monday. Perhaps something similar could be arranged for the toys. That way you can drive your cobra to the event.

If it's not too far, it would make great press to convoy in Cobras full of toys to the drop off point.. Sure would look sweet on the TV news!

Bob Broberg SPF667 460BB 10-30-2014 09:59 AM

Sounds like a great idea BUT, donation center next to hospital does not open until December 15th so Bruce would need to store them until then according to their website: Toyland - Presents for Kids in the Hospital over the Holidays | Phoenix Children's Hospital

I'm probably taking the toys down Dec 18, Saturday from my office. It's at Glendale and 18th St, just off the SR-51. If you all want to do a Cobra run to take the toys down, we can see if any news channels want to cover it. If not, it will be a Ford pickup and a trailer!
