New Years Day Run

Folks, there has been some discussion about where to go New Years Day. Yarnell, while a great drive, is full of perils as some in the club will atest. Besides it gets cold up there and my old bones would rather something no quite so cold. So I propose a run from Fountain Hills Shell on Shea Blvd. up the B Line to Jakes Corners and then through the Tonto Basin with a stop at the Butcher Hook in Punkin Center for lunch.. Why lunch rather than breakfast? Because I propose we leave Fountain Hills about 10:30. If anyone else has any ideas, throw them out and we can discuss them.

Sounds fine with me and then those who need more seat time could go around to Globe, to Kearney, and even Oracle, if their Butts could stand it. Is Butcher Hook going to be open New Year's Day?

Karl, I called. Yes, they are open New Year's Day. Sounds like fun.

I'm thinking about a drive around Lake Winnipesaukee.

Mikie...When can you drive "over" Lake Winniepasaukee?

mikiec 12-15-2014 04:35 PM

I don't know yet. I think it is frozen over some time in Feb.

10:30am departure. That will give Bill and Karl time to sober up from partying.

Channel 12 Weather Forcaster

I sent a e-mail inviting Dr Matt Pace to ride along on New Year's Day and try to broadcast his weather from the passenger seat.

We will see what develops.

Invitation to Dr Matt Pace, Channel 12

Here is a copy of my invitation:

Dr. Matt, thanks for your kind interview of our club representative, Dr Bruce Nelson on Saturday morning. If not for the rain threat we would have had 2 or 3 times as many cobras present. We have asked Denise at PCH if we can repeat next year.
You mentioned perhaps a weather broadcast from a moving cobra on one of our runs. Easier said than done. It's loud in the passenger seat and normally the passenger is holding on for dear life and trying to curl up in fetal position.
Our next run will be on New Year's Day departing from Fountain Hills at 10:30am to lunch in Punkin Center at the Butcher Hook Restaurant then home either via Globe if nice weather or retrace our route. Let me know if your are interested in riding along. I keep a package of Depends on hand for passengers.

Here's a photo of the kind of tough it takes to ride in my car. This is Alberto Del Rio, former WWE Heavyweight Champion just climbing out to face Sheamus Ready for the title. He lost. Should have worn the Depends.

Yes I checked with Butcher Hook before I suggested the run.. They are open and have started making a breakfast burrito for Karl.. (it takes a while to make one that size.. ) and the intent is to continue on through Roosevelt and on to Globe and back via US 60, weather permitting.

Bob DLT 12-16-2014 11:19 AM

This sounds like a great idea. Count me in.

Danr55 12-16-2014 12:18 PM

Bob, You're in.. we are counting on you.... oh, and welcome..

mikiec 12-16-2014 01:22 PM

Bob? Bob? Another Bob.

Hi Dan. I am not new to this forum and you know me from past runs we have done. I am old, just like you. I was on the forum for years as Cactus Bob, but something went wrong with the login and I could never get anyone to fix it. Net result, I had to create a new account. I am the guy that had a coilover break on the way back from our picnic at Bartlett Lake a couple of years ago,if that helps. See you New Years Day!

mikiec 12-16-2014 03:17 PM

I remember now. Dan might not.

I do remember Cactus Bob with the broken coil over.. Hi Old like me Bob.. Good. Now I don't feel compelled to warn him about these guys. He knows and he chooses to come back.. It's on him.

Hey Bob,
Glad you created a new log-in like we discussed.
I did PM Bent Mills for you about your problem and he never responded.
I also PM'ed him to make my post about gathering e-mails a "Sticky post" and he never responded to that either.
Maybe he's not the right guy.:confused::confused:
Welcome back.
Dan
