Default time to change Regular Home/Car Insurance Companies

What I am looking for is what companies to stay away from. I have used CNA (Encompass) and Chubb currently.
I remember when I had a fender bender on one of my regular cars the people over in Scottsdale weren't happy with a few companies that made it tough to repair the car, get paid quickly etc.
Like asking your doctor what is the best medical insurance company that doesn't make you jump through hoops to get paid or cover stuff. Never have gotten a strait answer on that one. So....................................
What company/s should I not brother with?

I have been using State Farm as well as some of my fellow Cobra drivers. They are reasonable and have had two claims that were paid very quickly without and rate increases.

Same here. All in with State Farm.

Never the cheapest, but have always been the best. And we've had multiple claims over the years.

I also use State Farm. I have gone through the process a few times of doing comparisons, and it isn't easy since I have some many different things insured. I report all our car mileages every 6mths and get substantial discounts since we don't put many miles on any of our cars. I don't get discounts on the Harley mileages!

Looks like the millions and millions of advertising dollars spent by State farm really does pay off.

A few years ago I went with Pekin for home, umbrella, and auto. Its a relatively small company that had just started writing in AZ. Their ratings were excellent and they've been in business a long time, out of Indiana (I think). My local agent recommended them because he'd just had a client file and quickly resolve a claim. The premiums are very low and fortunately, I haven't had any claims, so can't personally speak about that.

Fitz was not asking about insurance for his Cobra. Just his home and auto.

Call Craig Harper at Allstate. Been with him for almost 30 years and they have paid for several wrecks (I have a wife and daughters...) and home issues and our rates are excellent. Having a good CR helps and I'm sure that's true in Fitz's case.

For the guys that have a lot of claims they deserve the premium they get, for the ones that don't shop hard. Try travelers for insurance. Shop around every couple years or they do raise rates why wouldn't they? Currently have 3 cars full coverage in Houston with $1K deductibles for $985 per year..... No cobra at the time. State Farm had been charging me $1700 per year.

Definitely shop every year or three. Premiums do have a way of sneaking up on you and considerable money can be saved, if you look for it. I've found that my agent has miraculously found much better premiums for me, if I start growling about my costs.
