Well it was an interesting run. We started with six cobras and ended with four. Karl and Mesa Mike wound up staying behind at the shell station because Karl's car wanted to race.. all that time. He noticed coming in that the throttle linkage was sticky. Opened the hood and played with it a lttle bit and then every time he started it, RPM went straight to the rev limiter.. So the four of us plus the black Chevette went to Butcher Hook for breakfast and returned home before it go too hot.. A fun little run..

Karl Bebout 06-14-2015 05:19 PM

I B stumped! The car had been running better than ever and then when I pulled into Shea off the Beeline, the gas pedal dropped out from under my foot. Inspected and tightened one clamping bolt all the linkages were working fine. Fired it up, and hit 6500RPM in a heart beat. Looked some more. Everything clear and functioning as it should. Pulled a couple velocity stacks so I could see the butterflies, and they were as they should be. Fired up again. 6500 again. Gave AAA some business and took the car backup to Vntage Iron for a re-do. Fortunately, Mark has the shop's phone tied into his home phone and he met me at the shop so I didn't have to leave the car sit outside. He'll have Dave get into it first thing tomorrow morning and I'm sure they'll get me fixed up. I was sorry to screw up Mark's Sunday morning, but I was more sorry to not be able to take the drive up the hill. ARGH! Mesa Mike hung with me and brought me home from The shop and we rewarded ourselves with an excellent breakfast back in Mesa at Danr's favorite place, The Corner Café. oh well.

If I remember you have Webers on that. Correct?

Mikiec

Karl Bebout 06-14-2015 09:14 PM

Yeppers, four beautiful Webers.

mikiec 06-15-2015 09:16 AM

Yea, 4 beautiful NON working webers. Have you considered changing them over to an EFI system? I know I think about adding EFI to my car, but to expensive. You probably sell the current system and that will pay for a weber style injection system.

Mesa Mike 06-15-2015 09:22 AM

While at Vintage Iron Mark told us of a potential tuesday get together at the Buttes. Seems a father/son team is driving coast-to-coast with a Factory Five raising money for the Marines Wounded Warriers. They will be here on tuesday and the guys at Vintage Iron are trying to put something together for them. Karl will have more later as Mark will call him today with info on his repair and the event, if it gets arranged.

Nice video, was that Jim Cook in the baby blue Cobra?

Danr55 06-15-2015 05:54 PM

Yes. That was Jim and Jeannie.. great folks.

Cobrakeith 06-16-2015 10:59 AM

Good video, very nice of Chuck to video and post it for us. Enjoyed the drive and breakfast even if we did get a little confused as to just where we were going LOL.

Keith, if I'd managed to go along, I'm sure I would have been confoozed too. Just before youse guys pulled out, I asked Danr where you were going and he definitely said "Pine". I guess I wasn't too surprised when I heard you went to Punkin Center. A little ADD going on in a Chevy Orange car?

Cobrakeith 06-16-2015 11:15 AM

Hey Karl, hope Dave at Vintage Iron found the problem and you are back on the road again happily making melodious Weber carbed Cobra sounds.
Keith

Danr55 06-16-2015 01:04 PM

No as a matter of fact, Danr was on his way to Pine when Garry turned right and headed for Punkin Center. Everyone followed Garry so I turned around and came back.. See I was trying to be a team player for once and all I get is more stuff from Karl... Not only am I going to paint my Cobra white, but I'm going to sell it and buy a .. Hmm what am I going to buy to get Karl's goat? I'll think of something..

By the way Karl, I have one day left before I rejoin the human rat race. You have your car back, how about a breakfast run to Globe tomorrow?

mikiec 06-16-2015 01:22 PM

Glad to see I am not alone in gettin lost.

Karl Bebout 06-16-2015 07:55 PM

Danr, get a Pinto. I remember seeing some of those painted a lovely Orange, before they burned.

I work at the Heart Hospital Wednesday mornings. Sorry.

When I was driving home, this morning, the car felt so good and the temperature was still low, so I drove on up to Superior. Thought I'd get some of Denojean's wonderful green chile for tonight's dinner, but they were closed. Got home at 8:45 and the temperature was 96.7°. Started getting toasty real quick.

hinoonaz 06-16-2015 09:58 PM

Thanks for the Video. That sun was a killer at times. Glad you got your car back and working again. I never heard about Pine. Your Honor I swear I heard Karl say Jakes Corner. Never a dull moment but had a great time and talked about airplanes also.
