Car Insurance

Any suggestions on car insurance. I just received my renewal from American Modern Home Insurance Co (Geico) and my premium went from $539 to $ 631....

I use the same guy that Danr uses and it's $400 a year for $50K coverage.
He is also local.

Try NorthEast Classics. Have had them for 14 years.

Mikie, NorthEast Classics uses American Modern Ins for coverage. I have it thank you. My coverage went up also. Still less than I was paying and they just forked up $863 for my windshield.
I am ahead

I use Grundy. Full coverage, zero deductible and a 50k agreed to value is $300/year. And they just paid out a $3000 claim on my 33 Ford 3 window coupe and no raise in premium. Also unlimited milage.

I have Midwest for about $50k coverage for something around $350 annual (from memory). They are underwritten by Modern however. Mine did not increase this year. Might be worth inquiring with Robin at Midwest - possibly they know how to deal with Modern on rates??

Try State Farm. Works for me.

Karl Bebout 06-16-2015 09:20 PM

AMIG, American Motorists Insurance Group raised my rate $24@ year after paying off my totaled car last September. Their customer service was most excellent! No complaints.

StateFarm it is...... $45k agreed value, full glass....... $310 per year. Thanks for the suggestions.

GregAgrest 06-19-2015 05:24 PM

I'm thinking of going to State Farm but first, has anyone had to file a claim with them? I had them many years ago and had a very bad experience. Any thoughts??

Several claims over the years including one total loss and two front enders to my cobras. All handled professionally to my satisfaction. Wouldn't think of changing.
Not always the cheapest, but I think they're the best.

Did you use Patrick by chance or someone else?

Danr55 06-19-2015 08:51 PM

When my black car.got.smashed State Farm paid the claim in 6/days. No questions.

I decided to use someone here in the west valley and glad I did. I called Wayne Barress's office here in Peoria. I spent about 10 minutes on the phone with Ben Torres, 15 minutes later he was here at the house, took some pictures, gave him a check and I was done! Simple, fast and easy.

Quick question

Did you list the cars as 65s, 66s 67s etc. or what they were build as such as a 1999 Factory Five?

I'll be looking into insurances in a bit and was curious as to what they recognize these cobras as.

Thanks,

Chuck

Be careful telling your insurance company that you have a 1965 cobra (instead of what it really is, a 2009 cobra replica) as premiums for 60 year old classics are much lower than more current cars. In case of a claim, the adjuster could deny coverage due to the fact that you misrepresented your vehicle in order to obtain a much cheaper premium. Even though your state allows it to be registered as a 1965 cobra, we all know that it isn't, and you're giving the insurance company some ammo to deny a claim due to fraud on your part. Just call it what it is and let the chips fall where they may.
My car is insured as a 2009 Superformance cobra replica.

Danr55 06-30-2015 05:53 PM

You should insure the car exactly how it's registered. Otherwise the insurance and the registration don't match and you are in trouble it you get stopped.

jhv48 06-30-2015 06:30 PM

Coming from the insurance industry, you should insure it for what it actually is.
It doesn't matter to them how it's registered. As long as the VIN number is consistent, you're good to go.
