Default Sleep is Over Rated!

I'm wanting to take advantage of the cooler temperatures again this Saturday or Sunday morning. Anyone interested in an early morning (5-ish) ride? Maybe Yarnell? Maybe Winkleman?

Karl, do you perhaps have some Vampire lineage?

I can't make a long run but a quick run up to Yarnell for breakfast and then reverse or on to Prescott on the way back would work for me. Does anyone know when the restaurant in Yarnell opens for breakfast?

Keith, do you want to meet at the ripoff station at 17 and Carefree, or someplace else?

The station at Carefree & 17 sounds good to me, what time?

Why don't we plan to leave at 5am? Get our miles on while the temperature is comfortable.

I would love to. Only problem is I would be towing or pushing the Cobra. Carb not back from overhaul.

Sounds like fun. I'll check and see how the "boss" is doing but tentatively plan on joining in.

Its going to be a nice sunrise ride. We'll probably be home by 10, at the latest, unless we decide to cruise on up to Prescott. Only bad thing about that, is coming back, all that way on I17. I'll just "medicate" real well.

On your return don't take I-17 south of the 101. Road closed at Dunlap until 10pm Saturday. Weekend Freeway Travel Advisory

And......don't wake me.

Thanks Bob, I would take the 101 East anyway. Quickest way to get back to God's Country.

I'll sleep when I'm dead.

We had a great drive this morning, the three of us got to watch the sun come up. Once we got out of Wickenburg it cooled off nicely. Didn't stop in Yarnell as there were no restaurants open so we continued on to Prescott. It cooled off so much we had to pull off and stop for two out of three of us to put on jackets LOL! Love the smell of pine trees on the back road to Prescott. We found a good place for breakfast across from the court house in Prescott. It got a little warm on the way down the hill into Phoenix but not bad, back home by 9:30 and the car is all tucked in waiting for the next drive.

We got started at oh-dark-o'clock but once I'd hauled my tired behind out of the bed, it was a most enjoyable 288 miles for me. I could tell that my carbs didn't like the 6000' elevation too much but we kept up a "spirited" pace enough that I didn't have too many under 3000 RPM issues. Bruce played rabbit, cum radar detector, and we didn't see any LEOs until we got into Prescott. Figured the man was not interested in us since Ralphie wasn't along. Thanks Keith and Bruce for having the huevos to make the drive with me. I enjoyed our morning. See you next Saturday at Gainey Ranch?

Thanks to Karl and Keith for a fun run. Mikie would have liked the 1880's reenactors sitting next to us at breakfast with their 6-guns and fancy duds. Looked like a dressed up 1880's version of the AZCobras- a bunch of old farts having a fun meal!

Gonna have to check my Garmin. It registered 103 as top speed on the trip. Must have been going down hill, with a tail wind. I'd have NEVER intentionally driven the car that fast.

Dr.

Spent the entire weekend with people dressed that way, shooting guns and having a ball. Glad you guys are getting in some miles this summer.

Karl, you better check something. Those of us driving with you never saw speeds nearly that high. Actually, I was falling asleep following you out to Wickenburg you were going so slow.

We were scooting along some pasture land in one of the valleys and youse guys got real small in my rear view mirror. Probably when you had your eyes closed, Bruce.

We need someone with a radar blocker, or Ralphie, when we want to get spirited.
