Ford 3 liter twin turbo

I haven't been able to find any info on the Ford 3 liter twin turbo engine on the net. Is it a custom engine ? It was in The Noble car at the show today.

DWRAT 08-01-2015 05:39 PM

Scott,
The Noble uses a Duratec motor.

He's some info on it.

I know that car was for sale, you thinking about buying it?

Scotchman 08-01-2015 06:32 PM

Thanks Dan. If I were in the market, I'd buy yours !

Well get in the market.:LOL::LOL::LOL:
Not 100% sure I could even sell mine.
When I use it, I absolutely love it.
I need to make more time for it.

I don't care how much HP the twin spool v-6 motor, It just does not have the ground pounding sound of a healthy pushrod V8.

Gofastoldguy 08-02-2015 07:06 PM

Mike...you are just still in the 20th century!
Love,
Bill

Yup. and LOVIN it.

Love a nice loud sounding lumpy V8 motor. Porn to the ears.

A great engine in a FF5 as a alternative sure like the Grand national turbo FF5

I have heard the GN motor in John's cobra. Not a cobra sound. The car does run like the proverbial scalded ape.

Still old fashioned.

Karl Bebout 08-03-2015 02:04 PM

No debate. THE BEST sounding is a snorting, arse-kicking, BBChevy! Usually, the quickest, too.

Only for those people that wanted to go reliably fast.

Very true, they do sound good but I also heard they have a hard time staying on the pavement.

Shots returned!

That is so funny I had to share on Facebook.

Ford does sell 3.5l twin turbo crate motor, 365hp 420lb. They are releasing a control pack(computer etc) for it soon. As the turbo v6 thing, this one sounds nasty. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yb1O3xR703I[/ame]

Luce 08-04-2015 09:59 AM

I think it sounds like a honda with a fart can.

Sorry, no love for it.

I'm putting a single turbo 3L duratec (from 98 Taurus) in the back of a Ferrari Dino tribute, but using a much deeper sounding muffler and expecting around 300 HP.

Car Nut 08-04-2015 11:27 AM

I'm solidly in the V-8 crowd. Even Karl's old broke down Chevy motors sounded better than a six banger. While they have been doing some impressive things with those cylinder challenged turbo motors, imagine how bad ass a twin turbo V-8 would be.

:D

Luce 08-04-2015 01:03 PM

I loved my SL with the 5.5 L twin turbo V12... other than the extra 2000 lbs and missing pedal.

But a 6 banger lacks regardless what monkey business you add on.
