Next Saturday 09/19
How about planning ahead, just a little? The restaurant up at Clint's Wells had good food, as I remember. Anyone up for an early morning cruise up there to see if it is still worth the trip? Leave the Bush Hwy/Beeline ramp at 6am? The PoPo's airplane probably won't be up and about, that early so at least the trip up can be "spirited".

If all holds true, we'd be better off taking a submarine up the mountain next weekend. If the weather is clear, that sounds OK..

How'd you know? I just bought a new 40' aluminum runabout with three 600HP Yukkafukkie outboard engines. Looks good in my driveway.

Nobody interested? Oh well. Danr and I are leaving the Chevron station at Brown and Ellsworth at 6. The weather is forecasted to be totally dry and partly sunny in Strawberry and parts North. Gonna be a sweet ride.

Danr, Adriana, and I had a nice ride up the hill, yesterday morning. Got into Payson and Danr led to the airport. Seems Adriana was uber chilly, and, of course, he had to pee. It was somewhat brisk in a few of the higher areas so I put my sweatshirt on, over my long sleeved tee and motored on. Definitely got nipply at 8000' but soon became near nirvana. I missed my turn to Mormon Lake so kept going to that garden spot, Winslow. Didn't see anyone in a flat bed Ford and no place that looked good for breakfast. That section of Rt 87, north of Strawberry towards Winslow gets so straight, you can literally see for miles. What's that? an opportunity to stretch a bit? Triple digits MAY nave been seen, even though the altitude is not conducive for my tiny engine's power production. Proceeded on to Flag, where I paid 50¢ a gallon more for fuel than I had at Costco, the day before. Got out of my jeans and sweatshirt and headed south bound and down. Stopped at Crown King to get into my ice vest and finally wound up my 8 hour day (6 1/2 hr moving) with a total of 420 miles. A bit more than anticipated, but it was such a beautiful day, I had no problem procrastinating about what ever honey-dos were waiting.

Wait a second, you stopped at Crown King?
Were you in your Cobra?
That's a 20+ mile dirt road.

And a rough one too. Must have meant Cordes Junction maybe?

I stopped at the rest area, that I've always thought of as "Crown King". I apologize, if I'm mistaken. I do know of the little town, and have been there, just not with the Cobra.
Certainly was a nice day for a ride. Have a very rough idle now that smoothes out with more RPM. Be digging into it tomorrow. Hoping for something simple like a cracked distributor cap, or such. I should be so lucky. ha

That's Sunset Point rest stop and it is very close to Crown King as the bird flies.
Good luck with your idle.

O I C
Once again, I stand corrected. "Sunset Point" does sound vaguely familiar.
