Default Congrats to the AZ Cobra Family

Having started this thing we call The Arizona Club back in 2001 I am very proud of the family that has sprung from that first meeting. I can't remember everyone that showed, but Bill Godwin, Bob Broberg were in attendance.

As my car was at Gordon's shop for paint and a few incidentals, I asked him if we could use the shop for that gathering. He said YES.

At the first gathering we had approx 28 cars show up. I would have been happy with 10. Most of you guys and girls were probably at the first. 2 important decisions were made that day. 1, the name. And list of names were thrown out. Jerry Nansom wanted the Cobra gang, we settled on Arizona Cobra Club. However, in retrospect gang was more appropriate. The 2nd item was to make this an official club with dues and officers, Many were for it, some were not, including me in the nots. My idea for this gathering was very simple. I knew I would have a blast driving my car, so I thought if one is good more would be better. So the club was never a formal club.

It was decided to hold monthly meetings at that time. That lasted 2 meetings. This gang would rather drive them instead of sitting.

About a year into the clubs existence I was approached again to make this a formal club. I said go ahead but I would not be a part of it. We are still going as I envisioned.

Over the years we have had members join and leave but a core has been in place for a long time.

When it was time for me to step down from the club I was please to see many members step up to keep it running. I was afraid that might not happen. But after 13 plus years I should have known better.

So my hats off to each and everyone of you both past and present. And, a very special thanks to Ginny. She made the RTE 66, Kir Cars and Anniversary run smoothly.

Keep up the good work and keep them on the road. I do miss all of you very much.

Mikiec

It's great that this group is so active. Living in AZ having good weather all year round helps, but still there is no other groups in Florida or southern CA. Enjoy your cars!

I have not said it often. Thanks Mike and Ginny for all the work for a great club without meetings!

Thank you, Mikiec. You were a wonderful President for the Az. Cobras. Thank you and Ginny for your contributions for so many years.
