hinoonaz 05-13-2016 10:55 PM

Will you still do a wing over for us at AJ's John? I still have several two dollar bills in my wallet. Gary

Danr55 05-14-2016 02:51 AM

As my Granddaddy used to say, It ain't over til the fat old man sings.. and I'm not even in the building yet. Besides, I've heard more declines and withdrawls from the Phoenix crew than I'll be there"s from the Tucson crew. We'll see....

mikiec 05-14-2016 08:43 AM

I believe the score is Phoenix 15 Tucson 0.

Nuff said.

There would be a larger turnout if the run was in March, there was an inbetween location like in the old days, and later than 4:30 am departure. Sounds like excuses. But, any challenge is better than no challenge.
I know you'll have fun. I'm just getting too old and crotchety.

All the above plus group unity.

May can get kinda hot. Since there is no longer a Kit Cars on the Colorado, have this challenge on that date.

Only 70 here oh that's right still in NZ but run is over as its Sunday. Have fun GO Phoenix group.

Karl Bebout 05-14-2016 04:36 PM

Ah yes, the old days...

Originally, the run up Mt Lemmon was pretty much just a quickly planned run to get one more drive in before the temperatures got uncomfortable. Someone later mentioned a challenge, probably in hopes of scoring some free ice cream and maybe bragging rights, and all of a sudden it all got to be a big friggin deal.

Ratboy, I understand your feelings about "group unity". It is good that we all participate, as a group.
However, I don't remember hearing your negative comments, last year, in Kingman, about some people wanting to go to the Golden Corral, while the vast majority went to the Dambar, or about a few weeks ago there, when some people went to Taco Bell, some to the Corral, some to The Chop House, and some to the Calico. Your definition of "group unity" is different than mine. I guess I'm old and crotchety, too.

Karl
This is a car club not a dinner club.

petty43 05-14-2016 07:49 PM

Maybe but you got eat sometime!

Danr55 05-14-2016 09:00 PM

We only really have one rule...NO WHINING

moore_rb 05-14-2016 09:05 PM

Well, the Phx guys may have dropped like flies on Friday evening; but luckily for us, the plaque is still in Phx thanks to the Tucson guys dropping like flies after we left AJ's and ran up the mountain...

You guys would have won the plaque EASILY if Al had just titled today's run "Cars and Coffee at AJ's" instead of calling it a "Mt Lemmon Run" :D

But, we had to go up the mountain.

I thought we did participate as a group - The official meeting place for today's run was the Tucson Cars and Coffee at AJ's, at 7:30am (according to the trip organizer, Mr. Alliedog); and everybody pretty much arrived at AJ's on time; and then a slighty smaller group drove up the mountain and had breakfast, and enjoyed some great weather, and conversation.

How we all managed to arrive at AJ's at 7:30 didn't seem like that big a deal (to me at least %/). But, as a "car club", I would have figured it was more important to make sure the car count was high enough to keep the plaque up in Phoenix....Right?

I mean, the 15-0 club record was in Jeopardy (and it cost me a handful of $100 bills to bribe those other 5 Tucson guys into going home after Cars and Coffee, so that the final car count on the mountain top would be 7 to 6 )

Dan- regardless of your reason why, You missed a fun ride, and a great morning. Hope to see you at the next one.

Sorry Dan, I mistook your statement about "group unity" to mean doing things as a group. Didn't realize you meant only those things that fit into your viewpoint.

As Robert said, you missed a really nice run today, for what ever your reason. Your loss.

Danr, sorry if I'm whining. I B ceasing and desisting.

I must admit, I didn't realize not eating together on "overnight runs" was such a big deal.
I have always felt it was okay to eat what I want, where I want and when I want.
I'm I wrong???

If you want to whine about me, whine that I always leave early.
I know I do that and it's not unity.

Envy comes to my mind as up here in Montana there are very few Cobras (Billings may have 3 or 4) which are seldom seen. So I have to hang out with the Mustang and Ford clubs. Your members really are lucky to enjoy the camaraderie
of other folks with the same interests.

Breaking bread with your associates is always a good way to build relationships and comradary. Sure people can do what they want and when they want, but that is not the point. Kind of like the family sitting down together for Sunday dinner. :)
