Concourse in the hills 2017
The Arizona Cobras have been invited to be the feature attraction at the 2017 Concours in the Hills Auto Show on Saturday, February 11, 2017.
Here is the e-mail I received from event organizer, Peter Volny “Bob - we have a genuine Cobra gunship coming to the show next year and I’d like to build a whole Ford display around it. We would place as many Cobras as we can get around the helicopter and then Mustangs and other Fords around them. When you have a chance let’s talk to see how we can best work this display out. Best regards, Peter 480.773.7297 PS - here’s a shot of my Cobra which I regret ever selling.” http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/b...psvr2iww24.jpg As Karl can attest, this is a First Class Event with 67 sponsors. Last year it raised over $90K for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Scottsdale: https://www.bgcs.org/ with 500+ cars entered and 15,000+ attendees. Watch the video on this page: http://www.concoursinthehills.org/ You will see Peter, Bob Bondurant and Peter Brock on stage. Also the event’s Facebook website: https://www.facebook.com/ConcoursInTheHills/ Here is another description of the 2016 event: http://www.stablesgroup.com/blog/CITH%20Results Here are photos from the event’s official photographer: Forged Photography | Concours in the Hills Here is Peter’s car collection: Concours in the Hills :: Contact Also his phone and email address. There is a sizeable entry fee (last year was $50,) and I wouldn’t plan on winning any trophies but, the fee is duductible. The part about being surrounded by Mustangs and other Fords should be interesting. Peter has asked me to invite the Mustang Clubs around Phoenix but, I am hesitant since that could generate hundreds of targets for Karl to swing a dead cat. Peter is normally present at the Shops of Gainey Ranch Cars and Coffee on the first Saturday of the month. The feature for Jun 2016 was “Red Cars.” Cars and Coffee | Event | Official Travel Site for Scottsdale, Arizona The feature for July is “Red, White and Blue Cars,” according to Dan Ratti. This is an event worth attending, an event you will remember forever and a cause worthwhile. We should pass on this invitation to all cobra owners we see at the Cars and Coffee meets such as this Saturday at The Penske Museum: Cars & Coffee at the Penske Racing Museum - Arizona Auto Scene As time grows closer we will have more detailed information, including the event show and signup sheets. We will want a head count before the event for spaces. I would not be surprised to see Bondurant and Brach again. There will be some great photo opportunities. Here is a photo of a Cobra Gun Ship: http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/b...psszfzhibq.jpg Our own Karl Bebout has volunteered to run point on this event since he has been there before more than once as an observer. Thank You Karl. I take back almost everything I've said about you. AZ Bob |
sounds like a hoot.. I'm in..
Can a replica be in a concours?
What replica? Oh, that replica. Sometimes I forget. Ha ha ha.
I'm in if we can park on the concours.
Go ahead and make my day, step in front of me! I'm in for support of Scottsdale Boys and Girls Club, support them already anyway

What replica...? That's a REAL Cobra (helicopter). Feb is a long ways off planning wise, but I'd sure like to attend, and support the boys and girls clubs (I wish it was supporting the entire valley-wide Boys and Girls Clubs, rather than just Scottsdale, but every bit helps) |
Sounds like an event for all. I'll be there.
Sounds like it will be fun. I will also be there unless something pressing pops up.
. |
I know I'm not a big fan of paying to get into a car show, but I'll be making an exception for this one. The money goes to a very good cause (Boys and Girls Club) and this should be big fun being displayed with the Cobra helicopter.
Maybe we could get a poster size pic with our Cobras around The Cobra ! That would be coooool. :3DSMILE:

We used to have a really good photographer run with us, but I can't conjur up the name. He had either an SPF or continuation car with an enormous Roush engine. He made several trips with us and always provided well edited vids, even with music. I'm thinking "Tom" but that doesn't seem right. Help me Rhonda, help, help me Rhonda.
The car was an SPF, the motor was a Rousch 511. He is a pilot for American Airlines.
Ahh, the very rare Rouch 511.

Well, what's his name?
His name is Sandy.
SandyC is his user ID here. He's also the guy who videoed my "so called mishap". https://youtu.be/ALlofCX9Q28?list=UU...cUcUd3-C2tWqAQ [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ALlofCX9Q28&feature=youtu.be[/ame] |
Sandy Cornelius is his name.. He and Scotty started showing up about the same time. Both had silver grey cars and I had a hell of a time keeping the names straight..
I think Sandy sold his SPF. You are right, he is quite the photographer. The event will have it's own photographer: Forged Photography | Concours in the Hills
PLUS I expect a drone video like the one at the Gainey Ranch Cruises. AZ Bob |
