Well I will be there unless it is pouring down rain. Think Mike and Darleen Sargent are coming as well in their 66 Red Mustang.
|
Fitz, Give Mike and Darleen a hug for me.

Enjoy
Everybody have a great time. AND remember lots of pictures for those of us that are less fortunate.
Depending on weather we will be arriving as previously scheduled. Mikiec |

In all, we had 17 cobras show up on a cloudy day with the threat of rain. I drove in rain from downtown Phoenix to home. I believe we would have had 25 if the date and weather cooperated. Dr Duc brought his land yacht for toy collection instead of his cobra. Had there been any more cobras, they would have been parked out in the gravel. Bondurant gave us all the room they could. Fun time anyway. Ron Evans, how about your shop for next year?

Sorry I missed it. If the piwers that he want to take a look and see if my place would work for next year, we would love to host the xmas party. Plenty of parking, 3200 sq ft inside with fridge, plenty of space for food and if it rains we could set up tables and chairs inside. I will have a bit of room as a couple of cars going to auction in January. Looks like everyone had a good time but how was the museum?

Sorry we couldn't make it but would love to host one if people want. Plenty of parking, 3200 ft inside. Kitchen, tv,couches and room inside in case it rains. One of these saturdays the bosses can come by and see if they think it would work but would love to.
How was the museum? |
Ron, there are 7 cars and 2 motorcycles in the museum. Really, it's more like a break room without a kitchen or bathroom. Nothing special. 3 of the cars are samples of old race training cars, a Vette, a Mustang and a Viper (current.) 2 are SPF (1 Mark III like mine) and a GT40. The 2 behind our photos are his old, original race vehicles, a Datsun and a 240Z.

I am looking for a clean unmolested original 240z if anyone comes across one. glad the weather cooperated for everyone!
|
Ron, I can check out here for a 240 if you want?
Mikiec |
that would be great, thanks. The harder part I am finding is finding one that isn't rusted and still original.(and isn't $60000 like a couple I have found) Just a clean driver that hasn't been messed with. I cant believe I am saying this but I have become partial to the Mexican orange color(not to be confused with chebby orange!)

Hey Ron-
I'm restoring a pair of early 60's Nissan Patrols right now, and through that effort I chat occasionally with guys from the DesertDatsuns club. Check the For Sale section of their web forum: desertdatsuns.com There was an orange 240 listed on bringatrailer about 6 months ago that was in decent driver condition. It went for about 14 grand, if memory serves... EDIT: HAH! - Look what's on Bringatrailer TODAY... http://bringatrailer.com/listing/1973-datsun-240z-18/ Finding one without rust will indeed be your biggest challenge- Nissan only used a single layer of etching laquer primer over untreated mild steel sheetmetal back in those days... |
Thanks to all who helped, and all the attendees. As difficult as it was to finalize the date and details, it certainly was worth it to be with my Cobra friends (and new friends!) celebrating our anniversary with this holiday party. I can't wait to join you at the Phoenix Children's Hospital for the Toy Drive Kick Off. Everyone in our AZ. Cobras Club has a big heart for this charity with their gifts to the kids. Definitely a good feeling contribution for us.
A special thanks to Bob and Pat Bondurant, and the staff, to generously help us by donating the museum for us for a few hours. We were eventually able to park all of our Cobras in front of the museum (and not in the dirt lot), as there were many, many student drivers participating with the school race programs. |
