Thanks, y'all. Ron Stein loaned me his soft top but I'm sure hoping not to need it. Same goes for the spare fuel pump, fuel filter, plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor, clutch slave cylinder, tow strap, scissor jack, tire plug kit, 12v. compressor, Slime, distributor gear, tools, one week old starter and battery, on and on. Most important: AAA card. Don't even have room for my car cover but my tonneau will keep nasties out of the cockpit. Think I'm ready.....

Leave your monster mug out and you'll have room for clean clothes and survival rations and a spare set of heads. Drive safe and post pictures.

Poor Karl posted this on FB: Loving life, here in Boise. The differential in my Cobra bit the dust. Found a JAG repair shop that will do the job and I'm waiting for AAA to come get me. Only been 3 1/2 hours, so far. The first truck couldn't do the job, since the rear end is locked up. At least it's dry and in the 80°s. Think I'll be staying a few days.
Hate when your car breaks on a trip.

The search for parts is on. The shop is looking for a Jag differential, years and all. Nothing local. TH Moore gave me the names and numbers for Vintage Jag Works and Jagbits and I passed those on to the shop. Don't know who they'd already checked. There's not a rental car in town since the Boise Open is this week. Always Uber, if I need to get someplace. Could have been a bit more exciting if the rear had locked at our LEGAL cruising speed. Also, could be stuck in East Bumscrew somewhere.

Ah, the adventure of it all.

That's a bummer Karl. Gotta be a wrecking yard up there somewhere that has parts. I found this one online.

Hey Mike,
I high tailed it home. Here are a few pics from the trip. The fish and chips were as good as they get, and the ocean pic shows the state of California's economy in the foreground.

Being deaf in one ear and not being able to hear out of the other blows. I didn't hear my alarm and woke at 9 am. Missed my 9:30 flight and can't get On another until tomorrow. ARGH! Another day in Boise, without wheels. No rentals in town due to the Boise Open.

Why not hire a car hauler to haul you and your car home.
Probably $750-1,000

Karlos, that night life will kill you at your age. More sleep and less party

Woulda shoulda coulda. I didn't consider shipping the car home since it wouldn't roll with the rear end locked up.

In 2 west coast runs, we lost a rear end, a transmission, 2 alternators, had to rebuild a carb, 1 new battery, and 1 guy ran out of gas ! ( Did I leave anything out ? ) I wonder if the Corvette Club has this much trouble ?
