Golf!!!!

In talking with John-Tucson this weekend he was pushing for a US vs Them golf thinggy.

John suggested Globe for the site of this contest.
He said some time in late march early April.

The date.....

March, 23rd or 24th. Take your pick.

I'll leave it up to the golfers to pick sides, course and the all important wager.

Mike

P.S. Maybe we can make this an annual event with a trophy.

Gordon Levy 01-30-2002 11:47 AM

Cobra Man Az 01-30-2002 12:26 PM

Golf? Racing?

i'd be up for tagging along if anyone has an open seat. Not a Golffer by any means but its always fun. Only day i could go is Sat. the 23rd.
any takers?:D

mikiec 01-30-2002 12:55 PM

Cobra man AZ...

We usually have seats available. Better than an E ticket. And, no waiting.

If it wasn't a NASA race weekend I'm sure Gordon would love to give you a ride. But, then you would need a clean bill of health from your local cardiologist....:3DSMILE:

March 23 is best for me. Have clubs will travel.

John-Tucson 01-31-2002 07:48 PM

Mike, the 23rd of March looks good for me right now. I'll get in touch with Mike Foss and Ken Jones and check with them. I've never played golf there before so this will be interesting. I would like to invite all of the Cobra guys to this event - the ability to play golf is not necessary !!! This is going to be a social gathering on a golf course. We can always work out who plays with who, and all of those minor details. The idea will be to meet other Cobra owners and enjoy an afternoon doing something different. There are lots of possibilities . John-Tucson PS. If you bring your wife/girlfriend, she will have about 4 1/2 hours alone in the casino !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gordon Claunch 01-31-2002 07:59 PM

You boy's better make ol' Hershal give you some strokes!!:3DSMILE: He's a shark!!!

mikiec 02-12-2002 01:03 PM

OK,

It is Saturday March 23rd. Someplace in Globe.

If someone wants to give me the name of the course in Globe, I could drive out there and check it out. But, then again grass is grass:3DSMILE: :3DSMILE:

Mike.

P.S. Yes, Gordon Driving contest....slowest wins:LOL:

John-Tucson 02-12-2002 08:17 PM

Mike, The golf course is associated with the Indian casino. Go to Globe via Hiway 60 thru Apache Jct., Superior, Miami, to Globe. Go thru Globe and follow Hiway 70 towards Safford. The golf course and casino are out of town about 2 1/2 miles on the left (east) side. If you see signs for the airport it is directly across from the airport. If you guys want to make a real nice drive to Globe then take Hiway 60 to Superior and turn right (south) on Hiway 177 to Winkleman. That is a nice ride in a roadster. You could meet us there in Winkleman and we could all drive Hiway 77 into Globe. Hiway 77 is FUN !!!!! John

John-Tucson 02-14-2002 11:04 PM

Hey golfers, I just checked the Apache Gold Casino web site for information about the golf course - wow, they have a nice web site with lots about the course. You can visit the site by using Apache Gold or Apache Casino and then find your way. Anyway, the course is a desert course and long ( unless you play from the ladies tees). For my style of play I'll plan on three balls per hole and take enough money to buy more after nine holes. The cost to play is rather expensive _ $60.00. The rates go down to $45.00 in May. Mike & Hershel, if this style of course and the price are too much for the guys I will check on the course at Eloy, that one is flat. I don't want to scare anyone away by the price or the conditions and I want this to be a fun type event that even a non-golfer could enjoy. What do you think ? How about some input from all of you Phoenix and Tucson guys. John

you got to have a cart!

John-Tucson 02-15-2002 10:29 PM

Bill, what a pretty Cobra. I will have the double roll bar on mine also - it looks good. Is there any chance that we can talk you into coming down here for our golf tourney ? From Redding it is a two day drive with a stop in Vegas. I know that someone will come up with free lodging for you here in Arizona. Take care, John

Bill E 02-16-2002 12:23 AM

Thanks John This is one of my customers cars Dave Dodge, He is the golfer. I was band for life from the mintier golf course for braking a window. He has had the car for 7 months and has 18000 miles on it. IM shirr he would like to go.

mikiec 03-12-2002 03:49 PM

TTT.

How are the arraingements going for the tourney?????

Let me know.
I need to get an email out to everyone.

Mike

John-Tucson 03-13-2002 12:43 AM

Hi Mike, there has been a lack of interest down here in a game of golf. Mike Foss and I are the only ones who really want to do it. I did check into the course at Globe and it's a bit expensive. Also, I checked with the course in Eloy, their rate after 1:00pm is $28.00 including the cart and they have seven day advance reservations. If we can get eight or more guys to play, I'd suggest Eloy. The distance is about in the middle between us, one draw back is the afternoon wind. John

Paul Gillespie 03-13-2002 11:29 AM

It doesn't matter to me where we play, just that it happens. I'll be in Salt Lake City next week but I am planning on being back on Friday March 22 just to do this. If not I'll stay a couple extra days. I will have access to email and the internet to keep up to date. Let's just do it.

Tony Ripepi 03-13-2002 11:58 AM

Hi Guys,

Good thoughts your way on the Golf from some "Drivers" here on the left coast. Dave in his Emerson, Gary in his Unique FIA and yours truly in my SPF showed up at the Olympic club for 18 holes.

They put all three cars in front of the Pro Shop and put cones around them while we played.......

Great day at a terrific PGA course, courtesy of Dave Dodge.

It looks like too long of a drive to join you this time but maybe we could meet half way in between....Las Vegas ?????

Best Regards,

Tony R.

John-Tucson 03-14-2002 12:23 AM

Mike C. It looks as if you have three players for the golf tourney and we have two . Since Hershel is a semi-pro would you mind if we brought along a young lady to sort of distract Hershel ? I have emailed all of the Tucson guys again today and am awaiting their replys, hopefully we can field four or more players. John PS. I really like the idea of a match with the left coast guys.

John-Tucson 03-20-2002 08:31 PM

Hi Mike, as of today, Wednesday, 3-20-02, there are only two of us from Tucson who want to play golf. I have phoned people, and emailed all of the rest - the result is that Mike Foss and I are the only ones interested in playing. There has not been much of a response from the Phoenix guys either. Perhaps Cobras and golf do not mix ??? Unless we can get at least six guys from Phoenix and make two, foursomes, I'd say let's cancel the event and concentrate all of the effort on the picnic on April 6th. John
