Ford / Ferrari movie and BBQ - Nov 16

If all works out with the date for the movie at the drive inn, lets do a BBQ at my house in PV on November 16th. I'll supply the meat, and hopefully the girls can bring different dishes. Details to follow.

I'm up for it. Thanks for offering. Not sure our only drive inn theater will be showing that movie. Leader of another car club tried, called, couldn't get committment.

Really, no theater? The Ford GT guys are doing a preview with Ford and the producers in Scottsdale, very exclusive list including Craig Jackson and Steve Davis and other VIPs. You have to have a Ford GT to enter.

Karl Bebout 10-19-2019 05:16 PM

I looked on the drive in's site and it was listed there, premiering Nov. 15th.

Sounds like BBQ ar Scotty's in the later afternoon and then take the Cobras to the drive in would make for a great day.

There’s 35 of us GT owners, and 35 Ferrari owners. Friendly trash talking will be epic.

Called and left message at both phone numbers for West Wind Drive-In in Glendale. https://www.westwinddi.com/locations/glendale Also sent email to their "Contact" on website. Here is the message:

I represent the Arizona Cobra Car Club. Shelby Cobra Replicas. Would like to know IF "Ford vs Ferrari" will be showing on November 16th at your Glendale, AZ location, and IF we could reserve some spaces, I am guessing 12 or so, to park our cars together and watch the movie. You might use this as a promotion. We are the only Cobra club in Arizona. Plus, since our cars do not have radios, how would we listen to the audio?
Thank You

Later got this message from Nancy Crane:
Hello-

I’m sorry but we will not know until the Monday before.

Thanks,
Nancy

So, we are left not even knowing if the movie will be showing at all, or when, or if we can have designated area, or how to listen in.
We can find out on November 11th.

Just got a call back from a nice lady I sweet talked to earlier today at the Drive-In. She said the "Ford vs Ferrari" movie is definitely on the schedule for November 15th release date and SHOULD be shown on Saturday, November 16th but no show times yet.
Step in the right direction.

I had checked their web site which showed the movie was scheduled and mentioned that on the other thread, sooooo long ago. TeeHee

Thanks for the legwork on this Bob.

Scotchman 10-23-2019 03:19 PM

Can we find out which station they broadcast the movie on ? I down loaded an FM radio app, and some of the stations don't work.:confused::confused:

Bob Broberg SPF667 460BB 10-23-2019 04:03 PM

Scott, the station number will most likely be determined by show time and which screen, so perhaps can find out Monday, Nov 11th. Your app will work, so I'm told. Ask Karl. I'll bring a blue tooth speaker for my iphone and an FM radio too.

Karl Bebout 10-23-2019 05:03 PM

Just a note, if you don't have anything bluetooth, you can get a free FM radio app and plug wired headphones or ear buds into the phone and get the audio. This is what I'll be doing because I can hear so much better with the ear buds. My wife will also use her buds or maybe she'll want to use the blue tooth speaker we have. Her hearing is sooooo much better than mine.

SO, the get together is on. We just don't know what screen and time. Bob, just to clarify, will they accommodate all parking together (yellow tape ). Gary

Westwind coming attractions shows the Ford VS Ferrari movie being shown on NOVEMBER 15 so we need to check to make sure the BBQ and show coincide :)

Keith, those of us that BOTHERED to go to Ajo discussed the movie/BBQ idea and thought that Saturday, 11/16 is better. Can't imagine the drive in would not show the movie the day after it opened. Especially after the amount of advertising going on. If worse comes to worse, a couple of us could get to the theater early and block of a bunch of parking spaces. I'd volunteer....as long as I'd gotten a bunch of Scotty's BBQ. :D

Bad News from West Wind Drive Inn

Just had a long conversation with Travis, the manager at West Wind Drive-Inn. He said the “Ford vs Ferrari” movie was not originally planned for showing at all there but the Scottsdale Ferrari Club had offered to rent out the screen for a large group of their members and families. Well, as in the mid sixties, Ferrari took their ball, went home, and rescinded their plan to see the movie. As of right now, the schedule to show the movie has been cancelled, even though it shows on coming attractions. Travis said he will only know if it will be shown on Tuesday before the Friday, November 15th release date. He said their order was cancelled but could be resurrected between now and then if demand generates. As of now, no movie night at the drive in for November 16th.
By the way, he said the digital FM channel they use is determined the day of show and any FM radio can receive it.

Wellllll CRAP!
Hard to believe anyone would falsely advertise.

AttaBoy Bob. I guess we just dangle until Tuesday, November 12th. With the ad campaign being run, I'd think 20th Century is planning on lots of business for the movie.

I will keep the date scheduled on my calendar and hope for the best. (for us)

Danr55 10-26-2019 08:52 AM

Imagine at this time the proper question is how do we generate demand?

Karl Bebout 10-26-2019 01:49 PM

Phone call bombardment? Can't hurt.

BobB, what phone number did you use to contact Travis, the manager?
