Did you go by way of Munds Park from Camp Verde to Payson?

Bob Broberg SPF667 460BB 08-06-2020 03:32 PM

Speaking of Munds Park, my son, Trent, just bought a cabin there. Still must close plus getting a new roof right now but perhaps a destination next year?

It was the "scenic" route. :)

1105 East Lake Meadow Circle. Looks like it's close to you.

Very nice, right close to the lake.
He will love it up there other then the traffic heading home on Sunday afternoons.
The market is absolutely crazy up there this year, prices have really jumped up.

Karl Bebout 08-12-2020 12:30 PM

6 weeks, three days....but then, who's counting. I'm so looking forward to making the annual run to Springerville/Eager and then 10 days later, heading for the Texas Cobra Meet in San Angelo. My iron butt might be tired when these are over but its going to be so good to stretch out my SPORTS CAR (dammit):)

MKS427 09-15-2020 05:22 AM

We're just 11 days out now. Looks like we have 16 people and 11 cars. Last year we departed the Chevron at Idaho Rd and Superstition 8 AM. Arrived at Apache Gold Casino around 9:45, although it looks like everyone will meet at the Chevron. Scott/Dan are these the times good? A stop in Safford for fuel and then either Coronado Trail or NM. Sounds like Bear Wallow in Alpine is the plan for lunch, with two different arrivals.
It looks like Ralph is the only one, in the group, not at Best Western Eager. Hopefully, they can get a room with the rest of us.
Looking forward to it.

Karl Bebout 09-15-2020 07:09 AM

Mark, is it our beloved Ralphie from Chicago you're talking about?

It's someone new from Cottonwood, RVNDOC on CC. He couldn't get a room in Eager, so he's currently booked at American Best Value Inn where we were last year.

Karl Bebout 09-15-2020 01:32 PM

I didn't think Ralphie would be allowed to come to AZ this early in the fall. Be good to meet the new folks. I've been on the phone several times with Larry Benson, also a newbie, who will be joining us with his Pantera. Also, Steve and Betty from Prescott will be on their maiden Trail trip.
Gonna be a hoot!

Azhinoon 09-15-2020 06:34 PM

Larry came by my house 3 or 4 months ago. Nice Pantera. Twisties or New Mexico this year. We'll see

I am going to try and join you guys for the drive as far as Superior. I can’t do the entire run this year but want to get out and see everyone. I will head down to Oracle Junction and loop back to the Valley.

Casa Rivera's in Oracle is supposed to have a great Mexican breakfast.
BUT closed on Saturdays.

Lupe’s is open

DrDuc 09-15-2020 10:13 PM

I think I'll join the crazies on the NM route this year for a change.

Danr55 09-16-2020 06:27 AM

I'm with you doc. I've made that run up the hill seven times now and I think that's enough. As you all know I'm getting older so I'm going to take it a little easy this year. At 8:00 is a departure time that works for me although in the past we've always left between 8:30 and 9:00 to make it easy on the guys that are coming in from out of town like broberg. So Scotty you're organizing this year what time are we leaving?

Scotchman 09-16-2020 06:35 AM

We are departing at 8am.

For those of us taking the New Mexico route, please copy the directions attached. We will end up in Alpine to have lunch at Bear Wallow.

Bob Broberg SPF667 460BB 09-16-2020 09:43 AM

Chevron Station at Apache Gold shows "Temporarily Closed" on Google Maps. Best bet is stop at Speedway in Globe east side of town at Rte 60 junction (60 miles) or Speedway on west side of Safford (135miles) from Apache Junct. Bear Wallow in Alpine is 156 miles from Safford stop. No fuel between Safford & Eager which is another 26 miles beyond Alpine.
