Default Saturday 10/3 7AM Oak Creek Canyon

Dan, Adriana (I believe), Lisa, and I will be departing Fry's gas station Dove Valley and I-17 at 7AM. We will stop at the rest stop just before the turnoff for Sedona. We will go through Sedona and up Oak Creek Canyon to Griffith's Spring Park (no facilities). We will double back to Sedona for fuel. Then, on to Zeke's in Prescott for lunch. From there some may head to 1-17 while others may elect to return via Yarnell Hill.

I'm leaving for San Marcos TX on Monday so I think I'll be having plenty of windshield time. Otherwise, I'd go but, not this time. You might be a week or two early for the Fall colors? Hard for me to tell, considering it's still into the 100°s every day.

Dan is not going to make it because of a fuel line. It’s the perfect time of the year, I’m going. 8 AM at the rest area. I’m taking the long way back through Yarnell Hill and Wickenburg.

Well I did not join the Cobra gang today but my sister (in her Corvette) and I in the GT4 did head up to Prescott via Yarnell and then up 89/89a to Jerome where I met Mark and the Cobra gang going the other way! I went on down into Clarkdale and then back to Phx via the I-17. 265 miles round trip.

We had 2 Cobras Ralph and Lisa and I, Steve in his supercharged Lotus, and a friend of Steve's, Bruce in a turbocharged Miata. Betty joined us at Zeke's with her Cobra for lunch. I came back through Wickenburg. 325 miles with a fair amount of twisty roads. It got a little hot on the way back, but a great drive. We saw Mike in Jerome driving the opposite direction.

Whose Lotus? What does the owner think of it? Compare to Cobra?

That’s Steve’s. He liked it enough to put a supercharger on it. He says you can really feel it suck to the ground at speed. His wife has a Backdraft cobra. He’s a nice guy I’m sure he’ll talk to you and let you know. PM da56panman up above in this thread. He’s really into bikes and street rods too.

Thanks to Mark for organizing this outing today. Beautiful weather and a fun ride, and a great lunch at Zeke's!

I briefly looked at an Elise. I'm only an average 6 footer, but have short legs and long torso. I couldn't sit in it without the top off since my head stuck above the windshield. It was a chore to get into as well - another of the cars that you don't get in, but you put it on (like the Cobra).

Some trees were just starting to turn, but I don't take pics while I'm driving. Lisa took a couple pics that didn't turn out and a video that disappeared.
