There has been talk by the west side guys about leaving a day early and spending 2 nights. They are thinking about going up through Payson and then coming down the Trail to meet the group in Safford or Morenci.
I'll follow when there are more details. |
I’m in.
|
Won't that make it a little impractical for the folks from Tucson?

What's your plan for the extra day?

"What's your plan for the extra day?"
I'm sure there are PLENTY of fun activities in Springerville:eek: The two day deal is not for me but I am looking forward to the Saturday and Sunday run |
I've done the funnest thing in Springerville. It took about 43 minutes.
|
From springerville, one could run to Magdalena Saturday and back… sweet ride.
|
Or pie town and back.

Spoke to the boss and she says we leave on Saturday morning as always. I'd you guys want to do a three day, go for it. We will leave Saturday morning and meet our southern friends as usual..
|
Has anyone contacted the motel yet ? We probably should reserve our rooms.
|
I spoke with Jignesh, the manager of the America's Best Motel in Springerville about the bed bug issues and scroungy towels some people had the last time we stayed there. He told me that there is new ownership, the rooms have been upgraded and the carpeting replaced with floor tile and that all the towels are new. The pricing has gone up to $65/single and $85 for a double. I told him we MIGHT be needing 15 rooms on October 2nd and that I'd let him know.
I'm inclined to go back there, considering how well Jignesh has treated us in the past, but will go elsewhere, if there are still objections. Chime in. BTW, I also checked with the same Best Western we used last year but the manager, Tana was not available to give me the group rate. I'm supposed to get an eMail tomorrow and I'll post the results. |
Since the time has not been published....'ere it is...
Saturday, 10/02/21 Leave the Chevron at Idaho and the 60 (Superstition Frwy) at 9am. Fun times acomin'! Took my car to the Maidenform shop to be fitted with her clear bra:) Just trying to keep my new paint looking new for a while. Not gonna park it in the garage. I WANNA DRIVE! |
For anyone interested in joining us on Friday, this is the plan:
We will depart from the Chevron Gas station located at 3150 W Carefree Hwy, Phoenix, AZ 85086 at 0730. The trip will take us through Jerome, Sedona, Flagstaff (lunch about 1130), Payson, Show Low, Pinetop-Lakeside and Eagar (estimated 1715 arrival.) On Saturday we will go down the trail to meet the rest of the group in Morenci (or three way) some of us will go back up the trail and some will go up Via New Mexico. |
Cobra is in the shop so I will drive the Buick. See you at 9am on Saturday!

Weather is looking really good for the crew. Friday might be spotty a bit, but that ads to the adventure.
|
Someone has obviously never been in a Cobra during a downpour. Sometimes you actually have to drill holes in the bottom of the foot box to drain the water.
|
We certainly had an excellent couple days for our annual Coronado Trail Run. No wrecks or break downs, or room complaints.
I murdered gazillions of bugs but they cleaned off easily with the ceramic coating I'd given my new paint. Raring to go again! |
The run was great, the weather perfect. I think Karl's new metallic purple paint was too pretty for any bugs to hit! Maybe only the butterflies.
