Parade instructions:
OK, we have received our instructions for the parade to lineup and proceed. From our Burger King Base we will head west on Route 60 to Country Club Drive 2.5 miles and turn right to line up facing south after U-Turn on Country Club drive. Route 60 will be closed at 8:30am for parade. Parade begins at Randy’s automotive on Wickenburg Way (Route 60) 0.5 miles east of Country Club Drive. Parade goes east to left on Yavapai, right on Frontier right on Apache and ends back on Wickenburg Way (Route 60.) Entire parade route is 1.5 miles map included. Do not throw items from car such as car parts or candy. At end we are to follow parade exit map, ending up on Route 60 WEST of parade start point and disperse to destination (Scott & Louise home.) This is a HUGE parade. Claim is 4th largest in AZ. I assume lots of waiting after lineup. Marching Bands, lots of floats, cycles, bikes, lots of horses so watch what you drive over. If anyone wants the entire original email, just let me know. Either here or on FaceBook AZ Bob |
I B passing on the parade.
I wANNA DriVE! |
OK -confirming. Couple questions - do we need to be concerned about registration at Randy's? Is that being handled in advance in some fashion?
|
No additional registration needed. We have reserved space for up to 10 cobras.
John, I've had no positive response from the original 9 except you and Bruce Huling. It might be wise for the 3 of us to meet me at a convenient location to travel north, such as the QT on the NW corner of 75th Ave and Deer Valley for a 7am departure. Looks like 5 cobras but have not heard from Jeff in Wickenburg. No one likes surprises. Scott, looks like 9 people total. AZ Bob |
I believe only one person need go to Randy's and get our number
|
Thanks Scott, I left a voice mail on Tracy's number to confirm. Scott has agreed to pick up our assigned parade number then meet us on Country Club lineup.

Oh just saw your last post - I'll call in a bit. thanks |
For those going to Wickenburg Gold Rush Days Parade:
Bring drinks and chair for before and after at Scott & Louise's. Bring coffee if needed (like me) since there will be porta potty where we lineup. AZ Bob |
getting from the end of the parade rout to our hose is simple on the side roads with little or no traffic. Enjoy hanging out for dogs and chips. By the time bellies are full, traffic will be better for going to the any of the other festivities.

74th Gold Rush Parade is complete
Except for the freezing morning and windy all day, the parade was quite unique for all of us. John & Julie and I left near my home at 7am and arrived at Wickenburg Burger King about 7:50am. Fortunately we dressed warm. Bruce & Patty had been there earlier and proceeded to our pre parade place in line and reserved space for all of us. Scott & Louise picked up our Parade Number Flag earlier and joined us along with Jeff & Pat, both couples live in Wickenburg.
After a 2 hour wait, our place in line became obvious and with lots of left leg clutch work we follow a bunch of hair salon employees on foot behind a pickup truck for about a mile on Route 60, (Wickenburg Way.) At least we could travel 2 wide. LOTS and LOTS of people shouting for us to rev motors and do burn outs (not allowed,) so we did a lot of noise making. When we got to the main, downtown part the people were like 12 deep for blocks with cheering, shouting, and clapping for us. Quite grateful for our attendance. Announcers repeated our arrival at many locations along the route. Parade took about 90 minutes of road apple swerving, then off to a friend of Scott & Louise who lives next to them with pavement all the way for a lunch of Brats, beans, chips & dips, etc. Good time. Tough to tell who made more noise but my vote is John Evans. Photo is our line up before parade started. Note the cowboy hats. Yes, I wore mine too. https://i.postimg.cc/zDhv0QxM/IMG-1692-Medium.jpg AZ Bob |
Great Photo of all 5 cobras entering the most populated area downtown Wickenburg. LOTS OF NOISE!!

Looks like you needed one more blue one. Hope to be there next time. A little far for only owning it a few days. Sorting things out now. I did find the heater which was a big surprise. Previous owner said no heat. Works fine under 50.

Scott must have received it from the officials and texted it to me. I assume each entry had one.
I'll will forward it to you and Bruce. I do not have Jeff's phone number. AZ Bob |
My friend Natalie (who was our cookout host), found it and sent it to me. The photographer is unknown.
A couple of my friends who watched the parade thought we were a hit. If we had helmet instead of cowboy hats, it would look like a 1960's race. You know, back when people lined the course. |
I did check with the chamber and while the lady I talked to said the cobras were her favorite, the rock crawlers won the category. It is Wickenburg after all
|
So true. Thanks for checking Scott. Never thought about awards, didn't even know there were any.
