Default Route 66 Fun Run

Hey Gang.Mike

Great time... we started out with 4 Cobras and 8 other vehicles. Picked up another Cobra for a short while from Pauldin to the 40.

Another one met us in Seligman. A new one from Kingman was also there. 3 cobras and the Rodster went all the way.

It was Ginny's first trip out in the Rodster and she took the Best Kit Car award. She is stoked. This is from a girl that 3 years ago could care less about a car. Just put the key in and go. Now She is a confirmed gear head.

Was my first time, had a GREAT time. I should have used more sunblock, got a little toasty.

On the last stretch we left early to Oatman from Kingman. I was surprised at the amount of cars that left early and that were already there in Oatman.

Oatman was a town full of "ass" Donkeys that is. Wife got a kick out of feeding the wild Donkeys. Since we left early and there was no traffic on the road, the wife got out and filmed me with the camcorder in the Cobra through the S turns after Oatman. It was nice not having to slow down for the Corvettes going through the turns Wife was a bit nervous though. I don't know why she was yelling at me, only once did I come close to the edge?????

Had a great time Mike, we plan to go again. Next year we plan to get more film through out the road after Oatman. It is cool to see the Cobra going through the turns from on top of a hill looking down and you can hear the pipes rumble.

Congrats to Ginny!

Jason,

Glad you went all the way. What time did you get home?

We left with the crowd at 10am. Many cars leave early most of them belong to clubs. Many are the Vettes...We spent time checking out the shops in Oatman ,You know did the Touristy thing ate lunch. Stuart kept running into the vette girls..We got to Golden Shores about 1:30. The awards were announced starting at 2:30 and Ginny's was the first. So we left about 3. Got home about 6:30PM. Ginny led and was driving the Rodster like Mario Andretti....

We did the whole Oatman thing, shops and the famous hotel where whats his face stayed at.

We left Golden Shores around 11:00, got into Kingman about 12 PM had lunch at the 50's Diner and left around 1 pm ish, took the 40 to Seligman and stopped there for a bit then onto Flagstaff then down I-17 got home about 4:30.

I was going to take the 89 but saw all this traffic of motorhomes ect getting off and I imagined being stuck behind them and other traffic on the two lane road to Prescott, so I kept the needle at 85 and continued on. I was using this rental car as Radar/Laser bait, he seemed to be happy leading the Cobra, saw plenty of cops on the way but they had already nailed someone else.

3 1/2 hours from Golden Shores to Phoenix, not bad time Turbo! Perhaps I should have went on the 89 instead!

Jason,

A shorter way would have been to go down 93 through Wikieup and wickenberg.

89 is great especially after you get to Prescott then turn right go to 89a and the infamous Yarnell Hill.

Well I know better now....I saw the sign to Wickenburg and I thought about it then said NAHHHHHHH! The wife said it would have been quicker. But I reminded her that time is of no matter when drviing the Cobra. After hours of driving in it she still disagrees with me. I guess it is different when your a passenger.

But I did feel pretty beat up by the time I got home....how much are those seats you have?
