Hello Scott,
Have you tried your home and auto underwritter? I have American Family but know several people who have other premium or bigger mainstream companies that write policy on their Cobra Replica. As a long term customer mine was happy to write but told me if new or only car with them they would not write the policy. For once being old or not 21 or close to it anyway, stable and predictable is a bonus.

Scott, I just went to my auto/home company, MetLife, and added the cobra on at an "agreed" price confirmed by bill of sale and photo. It is now my cheapest car to insure.

You vets (not Vettes, Vets!) will appreciate this. USAA treats your Cobra as any other car. It's not even considered a High Performance vehicle if the original HP of the engine was not over 300 HP.

Scott, a few of us here in Tucson are using State Farm. I have my other cars with them and had no problem registering the Cobra. My cost is right at $500. 00 a year. Hope to see you Sunday morning at the "coffee and conversation" about 9:30 am. It looks like we'll have about 10 Cobras there and may make a short 2 or 3 hour drive afterwards. John

I went with Condon and Skelly who wrote me with Met-Life. Haggerty didn't want my business any more and priced themselves out of the market. Met is very limited on mileage (2500/yr) but I've not had any trouble staying under that. A few pictures, a written appraisal, and an agreed upon value and their premium was very reasonable. My 2¢ worth.

Try American Collector Car insurance out of Cherry Hill NJ. They know what these replicas are and their rates are good for an agreed policy. They asked for a photo, appraised value and little else.

I have all my cars and house with State Farm, including the Cobra.

Both my 73 Vette and Cobra are listed as "pleasure" vehicles and have a limit on yearly mileage of 7500mi. Also there is some clause where I list another car as my primary driver (no problem). The Cobra is listed with an agreed upon value that is backed up by all the receipts (I have 2 - 3 inch binders). I think the Cobra is about $560/yr.

The nice thing about it is that I know their service to be really good. No hassles and prompt. They certainly have a vested interest in treating me good since all my insurance business is with them.

Good luck.

I just got my policy from Northwest Insurance Center Inc. Tom Foltz or Heather Breshears
Northwest Insurance Center, Inc.
Phone: 425/483-5758 ext 7
Fax: 425/483-2016
Email: classiccars@gotinsurance.com

I was going to renew with Condon Skelly but they lowered their milage allowed from 7500 to 5000 miles. Price was ok. I decide to go with Tom Foltz who is a car guy. I saw his name on the Forum. I talked with him and got all the info. He does AZ. They have all the restrictions that everyone else has....under 25, other cars, clean record, no track events covered etc. No mileage restrictions which I liked.

It is all about the agent. I think someone would be wise in the insurance business to come to one of our events and get all our names. "Talk about found business!'

Fitz,

Sounds like you talked with Tom. If I ever get my car, that's who I'll be going with.

Cheers,
Steve

Yep! Took your advise and talked with him and decided on Grundy over Condon Skelly. Have fun waiting on your car!
