Default New Kid in town

Guys,

Well I'm not exactly a kid and not exactly new to town either but I am a relatively new Cobra owner. I have a specific problem that I need help with but first some background.

I bought a Unique 289 FIA from Jeff Karnitz in Wisconsin in late February. The car is a 2002 build with a 351 stroked to 408 cu in. 1965 4 spd top loader. The car had 544 miles on the SW odo when delivered to me. In effect, brand new turn key car.

The car needs to be somewhat sorted out for a few irritating bugs but in general the car went down the road just fine.

Yesterday afternoon on preparing the car for a run to the pavillions I couldn't start her. Funny because the car ran perfectly the night before when I took Carolyn [my wife] out for a thrill ride.
The motor is turning over but apparantly there is no spark.
Here's my problem...

I live in north Scottsdale...way north. Like 146th st. off dynamite. I am 35 miles north of scottsdale and Indian bend Rd to give you an idea. I have no mechanical or electrical skills either. I took my Dad's stereo receiver apart when I was 8 years old and could'nt repeat the process in reverse and my father locked up all the tools for the balance of my homelife. Really, I have no apptitude for these things. I have been hangin around cars for 40 years so I have a rudimentary understanding of how they work but fixin stuff has been the other guys job. I can drive like a demon and polish with the folks at pebble beach but if there's a wrench involved....I'm screwed.

So..with that said. I need to know what I should attempt to do to see what and where the problem is. I have a pertronix ignition. I had a similar problem with the flamethrower coil in another car that had a pertronix unit. Should I start there. The motor turns over fine, there's just that typical sound when the motor's turning but there's no way she's going to catch.
When I lived in town it was no problem as people that I knew could drive over in 10 minutes. it's not that way now.

Any help would be appreciated.

By the way, I have been reading posts on the Arizona site for some time but I couldn't post to introduce myself because in my inital set up on Club Cobra I inadvertanly advised them that I was under 13....how freudian is that?

Thanks to Jeff C. an d Harley for their response and help.
Yesterday Jeff talked me thru a series of electrical tests and we isolated a bad coil, or atleast thats's what we think. I am off today to buy a new coil.
We'll see if that's the problem.
Thanks again, guys
