Default Exhaust Coating

Where is a good place to get my headers and exhaust coated in the Phx. area?

Walmart!
Buy a can of Hi Temp paint and have at it! I like the paint approach a LOT. Easy to touch up and maybe next week I want to change the color!

Don, I too used Jet Hot and am pleased with their work. I found out much later that Jeff Classic is also hooked up with ceramic coatings and might be a bit more reasonable for a Cobra guy. He's in the North side of the valley. I'm sure that Mikec would have his e-mail address.

Harley, did you get your transmission leak taken care of?

Hey Don,
I would be happy to help you get your pipes Jet-Hotted. I am a local dealer and can save you a few bucks as a fellow Cobra guy. I offer a discount to all club members and really believe in the product or would not be part of it. Never had a problem so feel good about getting in the middle of you and your Toy. Call me at 602 402 8504 or email direct to jeffc@cobrasnvettes.com.
Thanks Karl for the mention

Hi Karl

The leak had slowed down to the point that it is just annoying - but not to the point that i want to pull the transmission - and with only a couple of weeks left before it gets sooooo hot - but it is a dry heat for out of towners - that i have just put off fixing it --

We had a great time at Knotts -- are you going to K-Mart tonight

I couldn't make the RT66 run and don't think i can get away on mothers day for the ride to Sedona

later

Default Jet Hot

Jet hot in Tempe did both set's of pipes for me, AND they also bent poth sets. They told me that Cobra side pipes are almost to big for them to do and they bend the exit tips from time to time. On my last set of Terry Levar specials it looked like Jet Hot dropped them on the end of the pipe. I had to use a hammer to straighten them. Good product bad service.......................
Just my $0.02 worth.

Keep it above 100..........

Jet-Hot did my pipes and headers. Took over a month and then they got lost in shipping for 3 weeks. The turnouts were bent, though I couldn't say if it was Jet-Hot or Fed Ex moving them from Tempe to Near Oregon to Nevada to Tempe again to here. I only live 3 hours from Tempe. The only complaint I have is the used product warranty. My headers look great, but the side pipes have rusted in less than a year each time they coated (and recoated) them. It doesn't rain much here in the desert so I doubt they were prepped properly. To boot, now they want $140 to recoat again. This is thier way of "making it right" for all the trouble.

Have chrome on my Cobra pipes, but I built custom headers for my '73 Vette (BBC motor) and had them Jet-Hot coated. BTW this car is also garaged and never sees rain.

After only maybe 500 miles in a few years, the coating is starting to peel off!! First the coating dulled and turned from shiny and smooth to rough and sandy... Then it stayed that way until now it is peeling off. I suspect poor prep for the peeling, but the roughening I can only attribute to oxidation under heat (?).

NOT impressed with Jet-Hot.

There used to be another ceramic coater in the valley (in Chandler?). I forget the name, but I would look them up if I were doing it again...

My opinion.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like jet-hot has some problems. The company in Chandler is HPC (High Performance Coatings), I'll give them a call.

These are the first of any complaints I have heard of. I guess each location has potential for their own problems but have not seen any myself from Chandler but sure fellow CCr's add insight to my little world. Was the bent tip a shipper issue or a Jet-Hot issue? My experiences have all been great and as a rule if Murphy can pee in my Wheaties he never misses a chance...

Vettstr, check the consumer watch forum for Jet-Hot issues. There are many, many people unsatisfied with their work. Mine looked great initially, just rotten prep work allowing them to rust after coating and recoating and making me pay to have them coated yet again while still inside the three year "warranty" is asinine.

Hey ITBITES,
I do not have much to commemt about. If your pipes are peeling and just not right and I do believe they are because you told me so then my only comment is that stinks.
If you want me to I will try to help you get them warrantied. I do not have any special pull but have had a good relationship for several years with them. As you know I was not involved in any part of this transaction but what the heck do you have to loose at this point? You are local so am guessing it was done at Chandler location, have you tried to resolve problem and got treated badly already? Call me or PM email me if you want me to try...
Flipper35,
I did go and look at posts as you recommended and agree there are negative comments O-plenty. All I can say is guess I have been damn lucky because I have never personally had any problems with any parts done and I have had a ton coated. On parts done for some of my fellow CC members I do it at my cost and have given them my invoice copy so my endorsment is not about $$$. I will quite doing parts for others until I get my warm fuzzy felling back but gotta say I still love the product and will still use for my own car. I am not the luckiest guy by any means. If out for dinner with 10 people I will not only get the worm in a salad or if cut in half I will get the half I see and just know must of eaten the other half already !!!!!!

Vettestr,

Would like to try the warranty route, but I think my time has lapsed. Additionally, the whole hassle of getting them out of the car would only be worth it if they would guarantee the next job as well... If it just did the same thing, I'd have wasted considerable effort to R&R the headers.

I guess I just have pretty much decided to cut my losses. (and I'm really trying to get the Cobra up to snuff - to heck with the 73 Vette - it sits for now)

Thanks for the offer to try to smooze the folks at Jet Hot. If I change my mind soon, I'll take you up on it.
