Smile Got One Ordered... Finally!!!

Mikiec and the Gang:

Woo Hoo!

SPF #34 of 50 Silver Anniversay Edition in the dark silver! Will be here on or about March 1st. Can't wait!!! Putting in the Rousch 427R. My apologies to all you who have worked so hard to build your cars, but I don't have the time, let alone the expertise.

Looking forward to meeting up with all of you as soon as I can.

Cheers,
Steve

Great choice Steve. I hope you can come out to play like Tom Thorson does. He has the same motor. Is Anthem installing? John and Rob do a great job!

Thumbs up Got One Ordered

I have about 600 miles on #20 (of 50) SPF #1989. Same engine, same color. This is not my first Cobra and I am very impressed with everything about the car, driveability, fit & finish, & especially the comfort. Even got rid of my asbestos shoes. (joke)
The car is a hoot to drive, you are going to enjoy your spring.

Bob,

Will be talking to Anthem, but am also talking to Johney Jackson at Airpark Autotek. He's and Connor have done several installs, and are right around the corner for me, 'cause I work at the Scottsdale Airport.

Can't wait to experience that engine!

Will be coming out to play often!

Steve

Bruce,

Thanks for the testimonial. This will be my first. Am interested in all your impressions of that engine.

Cheers,

Hi Steve,
The 427R is fine and comes set up well. I am in the car business so have access to all the shop equipment. The MSD setup is on the money, 19* initial and 31* total. I'm leaving mine there for a couple thousand miles and will bump a couple deg. then. Chip at 6000 seems early, hits it pretty quick. Seems like it would like more but Todd at Roush (and the dyno chart) says it doesn't do any good to spin it faster.
The carb set up is ok. I cracked my secondaries .025 - .030 or so and cleaned up the idle some. I was really trying to overcome a hickup on off idle cruise 2nd thru 4th and it did help. The carb does percolate after shutoff. You can see it squirting with the aircleaner off. Don't know if that could happen and cause that light cruise hiccup or not. I'll talk to Roush and see if they recommend a spacer/insulator. Kinda surprised it did not come with one since the problem is evident.
Are you orering with a clutch? Drop me an email.

Congratulations! I know the feeling just waiting to get in the thing and go. I don't have the patience; I am use to the TV clicker; I want it now! If you want some suggestions of things you would have done if you owned one before and didn't listen to others if they could do it all over again just ask that question. You will be amazed at what you will get back. As for me, I am a simple person who just wants everything and wants it now...Heheheheheeee

Is it done yet, Gordon?

Bruce,

Thanks for the info. Will email you offline. You happy with the color? (I haven't seen it up close, yet.)

Cheers,
Steve

Got your email, will respond after some meetings this morning.
The color - does not stand out in a crowd but definitely has class. Last one was guardsman blue with wimbleton white stripes, too many of them that color today for me.
The paint work is flawless in my opinion. Stripes could have had the edges buffed down a little better but that is fixable.

Comstock,

Do like some pilots do and complain of fatigue. Ginny hears that all the time. Some pilot gets a trip he does not want, and he calls in with fatigue.

Fitz, If you bought a SPF you would have it by now.

Gordon is it done yet?????????????????

Mike

Mike,

I would, but we only have 9 pilots and 3 airplanes. Ginny must work for an airline, eh?

Looks like I have that day available, though, so will try to attend. Can't find where you posted the details -- would you mind sending it again for me? : swcomstock@cox.net

Thanks,

Steve

Congratulations Steve!!........I run around with the Tucson gang and periodically get pulled over chasing Mikie C on Central. I videotaped the arrival of mine......never get tired of watching it. Maybe we will meet at Knotts next year......its worth the wait..........

Thanks, Scott.

I'm having a bit of trouble with the waiting time -- I manage to "swing by" the dealer and the engine shop several times a week. My wife suggested we get pictures taken in one for use in the Christmas card. Am trying to learn as much as I can about carburetors to choose the right one for the engine. I'm sure the camera will get over-used during the delivery and the engine install.

Cheers,
Steve
