Picnic

Reminder of the picnic on Saturday the 9th. 10am 'til whenever.

Caravan meeting at the gas station CaveCreek rd and Carefree highway.

Suggestions... West side gang do not take the 17 as it is a mess. Take the 101 to Cavecreek rd and go north if you plan on being at the meeting spot. If not take Scottsdale road into cavecreek.

Cavecreek is having their annual rodeo parade on Saturday the 9th. so main street might be congested.

Thanks Mike for the invite this Sat.
I've got contractor hell at the house all day so I won't be able to attend the picnic but since I live in Carefree at Rolling Hills Estates I could meet up with you guys at the Chevron station just to say hi in the a.m.
What time are you meeting there?
I will be driving a Corsa Rossa red Backdraft Cobra with no stripes.
It will be great to finally put some faces against the e-mails.
Looking forward to seeing you all.

Accidentally deleted the email with the picnic info. Mike - can you send another or post the info here?

Thanks.

The picnic will be held this year on April, 9th. Location is the same. Rattlesnake cove at Bartlett Lake. Bring ones as the parking fee is 4.00 and the machine only accepts ones, so I'm told. Time 10:00 til ?? Those wishing to caravan can meet up at the gas station on Carefree Highway and Cavecreek rd. 9 to 9:30am. I think the web site says 8:30 to 9am, but emails say 9 to 9:30am. I will be at the cove no later than 8:15am to save spots.

For those not caravaning take Cavecreek road through Cavecreek and Carefree. Continue on to the turn off to Bartlett Rd. If you hit a dirt road you have gone to far.

I will provide the usual Charcoal, ketchup, mustard and relish. Bring what ever you want to eat.

Carefree Police Watch

Carefree Police bragged about dispensing 260 speeding tickets last month. They are on the watch. Especially on Saturdays. So watch out there. Also Cave Creek having parade so advise taking Carefree Hwy to Scottsdale Rd. left to Cave Creek right to Bartlett Cutoff Slowly!

Mike - no onions?

I understand the parade traffic will be heavy at Scottsdal road also. I was advised by a Cavecreeker and long time parade watcher to take cavecreek North to Dynamaite, East to Pima, and then back North

BPWilliams 04-08-2005 09:56 AM

Traffic.....

OK guys I need some help on this one... My car does not do good in traffic so I need to know how to get there without stopping every 5 min to let the car cool off.

I was going to take Scottsdale all the way to the 74 and meet at the gas station. Should I take another route???

What time does the parade start, can I leave earlier to miss the mess?

If there is know way to avoid the parade and I will be sitting in traffic it is better for me to stay at home.......

Any help would be Appreciated :3DSMILE:

Thanks,
Brian

Just some notes on local road conditions in Carefree. I live in C.F.
There is a wash that crosses Carefree Hwy. just before you reach Scottsdale road, it is still runing with water and no matter how slow you go, some clown coming the other way will blast through. I have even had water splashed into the cab of my F-150 4x4.
It's too bad there is a parade in Cave Creek because that would be the way to go........on Cave Creek rd.
For everyone meeting at the Chevron station you could backtrack one mile to Lone Monntain .rd. and then cut across to Scottsdale rd., kind of a round about way to get there though. or just brave the wash?
Scottsdale rd. always has a photo radar van hidden in the bushes somewhere and it shoots both ways now, north and south. Also, when you pass Carefree hwy.on Scottsdale rd. Scottsdale rd. becomes Tom Darlington rd. watch out for hidden radar as well here. Lastly, Cave Creek rd. from Cave Creek to the Bartlett Lake turnoff usually has radar unit somewhere. I guess it's all the construction and lake traffic that is the cause.

With the water and parade, I don't see any reason to meet at CC and Carefree. I like the Pima and CC idea. There is a church at the NE corner of CC and Pima. I'll be there @ 9:00. This will put us past the parade.

Thanks!

Sounds much better!

I will bolt up Pima from the 101 and find the church in Cave Creek, Jim see there at 9:00am

Keep it below 100.................

If your wanting a head count at the meeting place, don't count me. I will more than likely just head to the cove. Since my cobra did not make it out of the shop. At least the Bronco is a Ford. I'll race ya in the wash.

Maricopa 04-09-2005 12:00 AM

See ya'll there manana. Car's still not running but I'll have 3 boxes of AZ Cobra Ts to dispense.

20 cars showed up this year. Three additional did not show up because they were broke or in the shop.

Here are some pics from this years picnic.

Sheriff

 Did anyone see the Sheriff up close on their return from the picnic?

mrpink 04-10-2005 06:25 AM

Chuck, is there something you want to share with us?

mikiec 04-10-2005 10:45 AM

I was the last one to leave. Never saw any bubble-gum machines. Even tempted fate and drove 3 miles over the speed limit. :) :)
