Run to the Pines

I had such a good time at the Heber July 2nd parade that I'm planning on getting back up to the high country for the Run to the Pines, Septerber 23-25. How many shakey snakes are planning on going? Anyone have motel recommendations?

LMH 07-27-2005 01:17 PM

I'll be going but Cobra-less. Not going to push my Hurricane up there!
One of the best places to stay in the area is the casino at Hon-Dah. Not actually in Pinetop but nice place with a good food also. I stayed there just after it was built so I don't know about any current prices.
Here's a link though: http://www.hon-dah.com/hotel.html

Karl if you have not registered as of yet you will not be parking on the grass. I sent in my regerstration back in March and I am 303 out of 500 cars, last year they sold out before I sent in my request and stayed home. Good Luck!
Thanks for the tip on the casino, sounds great is anyone else staying there?

Holy Cow! Just called and it is filled up. Oh well, next year I'll know better.

LMH 07-27-2005 02:04 PM

There are a few other hotels that are actually in Pinetop but with that many cars registered, they may be full. There is also the ski lodge at Apache Sunrise but it's quite a far drive to Pinetop. Nice drive but far. Maybe do a search for cabins for rent in Pinetop/Lakeside. Might be something there.

I'd envite you guys to stay with me but already have six, so it's SRO at my place! Sorry!

The rooms at the Hondah casino have paper thin walls. You can hear your neighbor snoring. :)

I've done that show once. It was fun, especially on the grass. I believe, Bob B and Hersh will be in attendance.

How about the trusty Sawmill Inn again. About 45 min to Pinetop. Could have a dinner @ my place.

mikiec 07-27-2005 05:14 PM

Dinner at your place on the Friday night. I might be up for that. Spend the night at the sawmill and go have a look at the show on Saturday. Then drive home.

I think my days of stop go stop go stop go are over. unless it is below 70'. That new corvette is looking better everyday.

mikiec 07-27-2005 10:15 PM

Brian,

The ticket is to go up and eat at Mr. Pinks. Get to the show Saturday. All they do on Sunday is hand out the trophys.

I think I'm liking the idea of going up early Saturday morning and coming back to the valley early Sunday. I'll be checking with the Sawmill this morning.

Karl, I just got back from Denver SPF gathering. I am registered for the show and am staying at Super 8 Motel. Real close to show. I'll be going up Friday night and returning Sunday morning since a trophy is out of the question at this show. Maybe a 2 hour hamburger at Mr Pinks Sat night?

Cathy and I will also be in attendance. Run to The Pines is one of my favorite shows. I will have a couple of cars there and hope to see you all. It is nice to get up to the cool country and the cars are fantastic. Wish I could take a few of them home.
Mike the rooms at Hondah are not paper thin, they at least cardboard!! Should be a great week end.

BPWilliams 08-01-2005 07:38 PM

Has anybody checked on rooms at the sawmill? wondering if they still have rooms avaliable for Friday night? I have not called yet and need to get off my bum........

Later,
Brian

Karl Bebout 08-01-2005 08:00 PM

Hi Brian, I called them last Friday and got a room for Saturday night, the 24th with no trouble. I also reserved a room for the July 4th weekend. The lady told me that they were about half sold out for the parade weekend.

Bob Broberg SPF667 460BB 08-01-2005 11:22 PM

Karl, Ginny and Mike have already reserved the whole west side for that weekend, 12 rooms.

Bob
