:o The Cheetah place is having an open house from Jan 17-20 during Boozer-Jackson and anyone can show up and be welcomed. They have a full page ad in Hemmings on page 75 this month with that theme. They are located at 1123 East Curry Road units 3&5 in Tempe 85281 which is here:
Yahoo! Maps, Driving Directions, and Traffic Pick a time Mikey, not too early ok? The phone number is 480-736-3997... Website---> The 1965 Bill Thomas Cheetah Continuation Collectible The cars are about $85G's as I recall...%/ Steve |

 What? |
The car looks like it should cost $35K to me. If the asking price is $85K, what's the other $50K for?
|
Dave...it appears to be very close.

The Cheetah Race Car |
My Mom always told me that Cheetahs never prosper. :D
Sounds fun, I'd like to go. |
I'm not one of those marque snobs that talks badly about any brand other than his favorite. But I looked at the list of components on their web site and couldn't find much in the way of high cost components (e.g., small block Chevy engine). A Cheetah replica is at the top of the list of cars I'd like to add to my collection. I hope to see this particular replica in person some day so I can decide if it's worth $85K to me. For that price, I'd expect it to be a modern race car under a Cheetah body rather than a faithful replica of an original.

Amazing. Another genuine, REAL continuation car.
How long before Amphibicars go to reincarnation? |
Oh,,,just give me the $85,000, I could use it for more good stuff.
|
These are not replicas as they are built in an identical way to the original. All vintage race cars are really replicas as most only have the serial numbers and small pieces from the original car. There are some exceptions but most have been crashed and repaired so many times that the original stuff is gone. These cars are from the original drawings and are as accurate as a Kirkham, actually more so as the original designer has a piece of the action. Personally, I couldn't care less if it is a replica or not, same way I feel about Cobras, but this is a really cheap vintage racer that will win many races. It sounds really good as well. :) Go here and click and listen!
Latest Results of the Continuation Cheetah $85K is diddly squat for a car like this, I have $35K in a Mustang Trans Am replica car.. and it is really slow by comparison... |
We are going to the open house. I'm trying to see what time works for the Tucson gang.

That's during the biggest day of Barrett-Jackson. I will be at the Shelby-Superformance-Rousch-Anthem booth helping stay out of the way. Would love to see the Cheetah shop though. Saw a roadster with a 502 in it for sale at Kruse. WOW! Also that Jim Hall Chapparrall is sooo cool: http://www.chaparralcars.com/2e.php

No offense to either of you gents but both of those cars are a pale shadow of the Cheetahs we are going to see. I'll take some pictures and gallery them so you will see what I mean...
So Mikey , we are going on Saturday then? It should be pretty empty as that is a hot auction day. Friday would be better so we can go to the Pavillions on Saturday. Steve |
