Knott's 2007
Knott's is April 28 & 29 this year. Who wants to go? I'll try to drive a more dependable car this year, as my Ferrari died 30 miles from home last year.

Sorry, Bill, no Knotts this year. Wiffey want Cruise and I only have so many vacation days. (something you don't have to worry about). Wish I didn't either.

FFR may announce something new.
If you have an FFR, DO NOT mail back the registration form just yet.
Today's quote:
Quote:
i've also been talking to "someone in the know", and i can tell you, that we plan to make an announcement in the next day or two
we have been sponsoring customers for the Knotts show as long as i can remember, however, and there has never been a reason to rush off your entry form
holster those pens my friends, and step away from your mailbox

We'll have to wait and see, David.
FFR may "dare to be different" this year.

I WOULD LOVE TO SEE ANOTHER LAS VEGAS AGAIN..I LOVED THAT TRIP ..I THINK IT WAS 2002 or 2003...... Also, there was some talk on the FFR forum about getting together back east to see the Doctor's unrestored coupe that he paid over $4 million for this coming summer...Dave

I have it on reliable sources that FFR will move the event down the coast to Newport beach? Last year there was an "informal" gathering after the Knotts event on Saturday and many of the cars cruised down PCH to Newport after the day at Knotts. It was quite popular with the locals and the cobra owners. I heard FFR will pass on Knotts and try to make a big splash in a new venu on the beach.
The Norcal bunch grew tired of the "same-O-same-O" and about 20 cars started going to the Santa Barbara show instead and refered to this trip as the "Not-Knots" cruise. It was an istant hit with the ladies as there is about 10 blocks closed off for the show and all of this area filled with shops and resturants. Lots of personalities, Andy Granatelli, Chuck Foose, etc. It's a big show.
Me thinks FFR will be at a different location this year.

Exactly! SB is the week before Knott's as it happens. I went last year with Bernie and Hershal and it had the most unbelievable collection of cars I have ever seen including a Packard with a "rat" motor and a Rat made of fiberglass as the intake. It is on page 3 of the photo page .. Here is the web site, they have like 500 cars or more at the thing including a lot of Cobras and not just the NorCal guys. I am going again this year and Bernie is threatening to come from OZ for the show as well. It is that good. Anyone who would like to caravan with us is welcome, we will be sending the girls by flying machine so that we can drive accordingly...
We are leaving Friday morning but not too early..

OK...
Ginny and I will not be attending Knotts this year. There are a variety of reasons, but mostly allocation of fun funds.
I will organize the caravan out there if you want.

In the past the Norcal guys/gals stayed at an Inn just a short walk from the show with covered parking under the motel reserved just for the cars. Very nice set up. If you want to get together with this group you can probably link up through www.bayareacobraclub.com . This is a one day show on sunday 8-4 and is very popular.

I agree the Santa barbara event was one of the better events I have attended.
Not to mention the wine, food and California babes...

Here is the latest from Factory Five:
Quote:
We will be setting up the rig with a full staff at the Knotts Show on Saturday and Sunday, as we did last year (and have every year for the past decade).
The Huntington Beach Cruise-In will run after the Knotts Show - like Roger said - it doesn't take too much coaxing to scatter the parking lot and head down to the beach.
Just to let everyone in on our thought process, last year Factory Five represented (our booth, customers and vendors supporting the FFROG community) more than 50% of the Knotts show field, and this year we expect to gain a greater share than that.
From the feedback we've been getting from our customers over the years, the greater majority seem to want to do something more than hang around a hot parking lot. Perhaps we moved too quickly on pulling the plug on Knotts - our bad.
This year we'll do our awards presentation at Knotts a bit earlier than usual and head down to the coast, and perhaps we can all enjoy the late afternoon and dinner down there together.
So go ahead, send in your Knotts registration forms, just indicate that you'll be part of the Factory Five throng, but don't send any money (we'll cover the cost of the spaces at the show again).
There should be a post on our website regarding the two events (with registration info) sometime this weekend.
Should you have any questions, comments or concerns, please feel free to contact me directly
Thanks for your patience and understanding.
Mark
