Mikiec, do you remember where my battery is located ? I seem to remember having to look at it at Hershel's one year. Is it under the car ? I know that here in Arizona the news people tell us to drink lots of water but I thought that the water I added to my scotch every night was enought, now someone on this thread says the battery needs water too !!! I'm getting confused. Hey Fitz, great story, HOWEVER, didn't you learn anything from Mrs. Mikiec's attempt to drive into the house ? Right now I have to read the instruction manual and find the battery so I know where it's suppose to be in case I loose it.

You betcha! What I didn't say was she then rolled over on the side pipe. Caught the back of her leg. This is a good way to brand them too. In AZ everyone has to get branded.
This all cost me; new kitchen floor and counters; new tile floors in the bed room etc etc etc. Spa at Camelback Inn etc etc... |

Ok, I finally got the new battery installed and it's safe to say that the person over there at FFR that made this battery placement design should be shot!:mad:
After trying to get the damned thing in there by hand, I decided I;d better start taking steroids or get a floor jack. After I got the floor jack, I decided I'd better get a taller floor jack or lower the car. I almost asked the wife to come help me and then I realized that I really don't need her to have another reason for me to get rid of the car. I didn't really want to unhook the new battery and use the floor jack to lower the car so I started shoving 2x4's between the battery and floor jack until I could get the battery to the correct height. Besides, if I lowered the car, I couldn't get under it to put the battery in! I took the wheel off, this helped immesely! ;) I should have JB welded the rods in place like someone posted earlier. They must have fallen out 50 times. I finally got it all in place and it feels secure. I will have to look into getting the battery mounted in the trunk, this is a ridiculous design! I took it for a spin and everything seems good. I cannot believe that I've spent 2-3 hours working on a freakin' battery!:CRY: Steve |

Ask Mikiec about his lug nuts coming off or anyone of us about just about anything you want to know. I perticularly like when I got stuck in the bunny killer's front yard and almost ran over him. I like reading "ASK Gordon" topics on the other forum towards the bottom. Very interesting. You can search topics and read up on them. Try it, you will like it. I am sure something is over there about Batteries... You have to have a sense of humor about these cars...besides going deaf! |

Granted, I didn't have a battery fall out, but there were plenty of other things that went wrong. You are now a true Cobra owner. Oh wait...you haven't had the... |
Shortly after I received my turnkey LSC,I was riding down a city street when the right front dropped and it got VERY difficult to steer.
The castle nut on the upper ball joint had come loose and the spindle and balljoint separated.:eek: Found the nut down the street and with the help of a passing motorist,I was able to put it all back together and drive back home.:) They had overlooked putting cotter pins on any of the balljoints. And I had not gone over every nut & bolt pior to drivng it. Never had a battery fall out though. |
Now that I have the car put back together, there is a squeak coming from the back wheel that I had to remove during the battery installation. It seems to be related to the brakes, but I can't figure out how.
I'm taking the car to Gordon tomorrow. Steve |

I once had a 1973 Plymouth Fury in Chicago. Had the girlfriend riding with me and my full size Weber grill in the trunk. Heard a clang, clang sound and looked in the rear view mirror - and there was the round grate from the grill rolling down the road. I did not realize the rust hole at the bottom of the rear fender was quite so large... She still married me, and I still hear about that old POS Plymouth, including the dash fire when we were going to pick up her wedding dress.... |
