Shelby Conflict
Loving cars all my life but being new to the forum sites forgive me for these probably stupid questions - Is it just me or are several other sites (SAAC, Team Shelby) extremely hostile and biased to whatever they want to be? I had ordered my car before I knew about all of the bad blood lawsuits etc. The team shelby site seems to be only geared to the new Shelby's and hostile toward anyone who speaks out against SAI and the SAAC people seem to be only geared at trash talking Shelby (just an observation) I have always wanted a cobra not for the manufacturer or brand but because I have always loved cars and want to enjoy them (regardless of what type)
I hope this is a site that welcomes anyone that loves a fast car and any type of Cobra. By the way my thought and prayers go out to Stuart and his family. I worked ER and Trauma for many years and anyone who has a "face to face" encounter with the stupid cable barriers and lives to tell about it is blessed. Thanks guys |

Some homework is in order before you judge the SAAC reactions...they are in the process of being sued by a Shelby company in a premeditated attempt to destroy their club. Regardless, the AZ forum is not the place for this talk, but I thought I'd respond. You did pick a great car...enjoy it and don't worry about the politics. :p |
I understand. I have no interest in stirring the pot more than it is already stirred and I understand that with anyone suing things will be touchy. I didn't say that I disagree with them but I want to be involved with a forum that is about the cars - enjoying them, getting ideas, help from those who have gone before me etc and this seems to be the most neutral and friendly site I have found. I am an enthusiast of all things automotive.
Thanks |
Hey csx...
Send me an email and I'll add you to our list. As far as what you drive... We don't care as long as you drive it. Who are you getting the csx from? Mike |
I have found Club Cobra to be well balanced in presenting both sides of, well, just about ANY argument, while it REMAINS focused on the cars in general. Now with any large group of people, here or anywhere, you have different points of view.
I've found most "Cobra" owners (427 Cobra replicas and the continuation series 427 Shelby Cobras in particular) certainly qualify for "Type A" personality. As such their a very opinionated bunch and aren't afraid to say it. It leads to some interesting, controversial and spirtited dialog, often. But when the smoke clears, the CARS remain. It is that passion that is the glue that enables the moderators to actually 'herd cats'. Unlike many other 'car clubs' you will find here that a large majority of the owners are serious about 'driving' their car, and driving it HARD. The level of mechanical expertise to be found here within Club Cobra is truly amazing, unlike any other web site I have ever found. Here be some serious 'gear heads'. :D |
Then I am at home! I am definitely opinionated and love a "spirited" discussion and agree to disagree but still be friends. I sold my first baby(restored and modified 67 mustang fastback) and this Shelby is my reward for giving up the mustang when I needed to.
I am still a novice at a lot of things mechanical so it is nice to know there is so much experience in the group to help me. I cannot wait to get it fired up soon and do my best artist impression of 2 long black lines on the pavement. I am purchased my car from a company here in Phoenix who had helped me sell my 'stang. It is Black (stripe delete). Through good timing and luck able to get the first (serial #1) Roush 511 cu.in 8 stack fuel injected motor(600hp/600ft/lbs). No I cannot afford this in good conscience but I have a wonderful wife that although she doesn't share my passion for cars it great enough to let me mortgage my children's inheritance to get this car to fufill my cobra obsession. |
I always like to say.... "Is that a real Corvette?"
|
I was going to tell you to get in touch with Mike and join the fun but he beat me to it !
Then I was going to tell you that most of us are type "A's" but Excaliber beat me to that! So I guess all's that left is welcome!! Larry |
Welcome
Mikie is right we even except them guys with chebbies in them. |

You put up with us chebbie guys just so you always have a ride home or to the parts store. The only problem is getting a us Type A personalities to agree on the best way there!!!!!! Hey 4910, welcome to the insanity. That Roush 511 sounds sweeeet, it is a little short on inches but the injection should help shore up any deficiencies. I have had several black cars and at the moment you finish cleaning there is no better looking color, 2.3 Milli seconds later ?. Welcome again and look forward to seeing your new Toy. Brian, I can close my eyes and see you having that conversation " is that a real Corvette" LMAOS. Is your Toy ready yet? Jeff C |
You guys can make fun all you want. Just be grateful you're not going through Cobra withdrawals. I went into the garage last night to wipe off the car. Then I remembered it wasn't there. Stomach got tight, eyes started to water. A terrible feeling. So it doesn't matter if your car wears a bow tie or not. Just so long as you have a Cobra.. Although it's better if it's not a pretender.. But then without the Shelbychebby's we wouldn't have anyone to entertain the guys with the pretty lights, would we?
4910, welcome to the insanity.. I hope to see you on one of the runs in the near future. Just remember the motto.. NOTHING IS SACRED. This crew is liable to rib you about anything.. but you won't find a better group if you need something. |

Everything here is well balanced...except Ernie.:JEKYLHYDE:D |

Welcome to the club. You might want to post in the Introduction Forum also. Ernie is very well balanced. It is Bill that I worry about. Ron :D |
Welcome to the Cobra adventure 4910.
I, like yourself, am new to this cobra STUFF! But I can tell you this, through out this forum and others I have not yet found a better site. You can get any info you might need, and some info you might not want to hear, but it is still all good. When I got my Cobra, which is also black, the first thing someone told me was CAIFORNIA DUSTER. I don't know if you have one or not it's just a thought. If you don't, any parts house should have one. |
Someone said the Ernie was well balanced but top heavy.. someone else said the weight had all shifted down and aft.. Ernie, what's the truth?
|
CSX...
The next time you see John P tell him I said hi. Mike |

Talk about hi-jacking a thread... :D
