Think about it; Back in 2006 The Speaker of the House said she "wanted a commom sense approac to our gas problems" Well we got it. These comments make so much sense to me I had to share because indirectly it really hurts us cobra few....

The OPEC minister will look you in the eyes and state:
' We are at war with you infidels. Have been since
the embargo in the 1970s. You are so arrogant you
haven't even recognized it. You have more missiles,
bombs, and technology; so we are fighting with the
best weapon we have and extracting on a net basis
about $700 billion/year out of your economy. We will
destroy you! Death to the infidels!

While I am here I would like to thank you for the
following:
Not developing your 250-300 year supply of oil
shale and tar sands. we know if you did this, it
would create millions of jobs for US citizens,
expand your engineering capabilities, and keep the
wealth in the US instead of sending it to us to
finance our war against you bastards.

Thanks for limiting defense dept. purchases of
oils ands from your neighbors to the north. We love
it when you confuse your allies.

Thanks for over regulating every segment of your
economy and thus delaying, by decades, the
development of alternate fuel technologies.

Thanks for limiting drilling off your coasts, in
Alaska , and anywhere there is a bug, bird, fish, or
plant that might be inconvenienced. Better that your
people suffer! Glad to see our lobbying efforts have
been so effective.

inside with theses types of policies. This is a gift
from Allah, praise his name! We never would have
thought of this one! This is better than when you
pay your farmers NOT TO GROW FOOD. Have them use
more energy to create less energy, and

Oil, like every other commodity in the world, is sold to the highest bidder. Even if we found huge amount of oil in Long Island Sound or in the middle of Arizona it would be sold to the highest bidder. It's no different than corn, iron ore, or bauxite. It's a free market! The god dammed Arabs are not obliged to sell us their oil at below market prices. The market price is the market price. If we, as a nation, want lower energy prices we should think about using less, something Washington rarely thinks about. We were warned 40 years ago that the good times could not last forever and they haven't.

Fitz, your meds have stopped working again, only 11% of the oil consumed in the US comes from the Middle East. More comes from Mexico, Canada , Venezuela and domestic production... The Wall Street speculators have driven up the price somewhat like Enron screwed California for electricity, we are being screwed at the pump. My race gas supplier sells 110 for the same price as last year - still think it is OPEC?
The ultimate responsibility rests upon the Federal Government for allowing this to happen no doubt by "lobbyists" and "Supporters". There is no supply shortage, I can buy as much gasoline as I want. Remember 1973 and even/odd days? That was a supply problem....

Since voting in a Democratic Congress in 2006 we have seen:

1) Consumer confidence plummet;
2) The cost of regular gasoline soar to over $3.50 a gallon;
3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase);
4) American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity value evaporate (stock and mutual fund losses);
5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $1.2 trillion dollars;
6) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.

America voted for change in 2006, and we got it!

Tens of thousands a day are signing this petition to put the pressure on Congress. Just open the page, then come back ten minutes later and refresh it. What a lot of people don't think about is that even starting to drill our own oil will bring the price down pretty quickly. The middle east wouldn't like the competition, but too bad. It's time we brought the out of control prices down, and stop making the middle east rich. Not to mention all the funding we give terrorism.

Don't think that electing this guy or that guy will matter that much. We have taught the world how to use energy and they want their share. Welcome to the global economy.

By the way, ethanol is an energy loser, but everyone in Washington from "W" on down thinks it's a great idea. Take a chemistry course.

If everyone who thinks that someone other than our misguided policies are to blame for the sudden run-up in prices & not the currently cartel dominated supply,they should support removal of all restrictions on exploration, drilling and refineries. When the prices don't change all of us drilling advocates will graciously turn over our keys to our gas guzzlers. You may blame speculators, the american public, the major oil companies, Bush, Cheney, Halliburton & others on the socialist hit list, but assigning the blame isn't going to accomplish anything. We are currently not in control of the market in oil, our american based oil companies that everyone wants to tax or at least blame are responsible for a very small amount of actual crude production. Increasing the amount of crude produced outside of the cartel will at least reduce the control they have. By the way we import finished products not just crude due to a lack of refining capacity.

Ok folks, while I am sure we could debate this for days, the truth is that there is blame to go around and then some... there is also a minor issue - I think they call it supply and demand... Nevertheless, have a beer and be happy that you live in America. Things could be a lot worse.

Race fuel prices
 

Mulv, the reason your race fuel has not gone up as much as the pump gas or Diesel in your tow rig is that the refinary capacity for race fuel is sufficent. The Chinese and Indians buying cars are not burning Race Fuel. The numbers of entrants are dropping in events due to the pump prices so the demand for the Race Fuel is going down (relatively). Supply and demand, baby. We must increase our refinary capacity as well as our oil supply in order to make a difference in the price at the pump. I agree that reducing our usage (decrease demand) would be helpful too. I'm just gonna be like ALGORE and tell you all how to conserve fuel by walking to work while I drive my Cobra as much as possible and run as many events with the Porsche as I can afford! Because I am important, just like Al. Keep driving the Cobra and enjoy what is left of the summer!

I say let the free market do what it is supposed to do.
It is politically driven quasi-scientific environmental regulations and a general attitude of "not in my backyard" (NIMBY) that is restricting oil production and refining. If we increase production/refining capacity prices will drop. The dems are partially correct when they say"we cannot drill our way out of high gas prices" We must also increase refining capacity. How long has it been since a refinary has been built in the USA.
Does anybody remember the gasoline pipeline in Tucson that burst a few years ago??
Did the news say that there was only one 8 inch pipe that fed this whole corner of AZ?
Did the news say that there were NO oil refinearys in Az at all?
