Yet several have been sold at auctions this year for $55-88K (all superformance). I will wait and see. I am not going to argue with anyone until after I sell. I may be wrong, I may be right. It depends on the buyer. Just like there have been CSX cars this year sell for $69000 and some sold for $130000. It all depends on the car and the buyer

I think Bill is talking about the last 2-3 months. Earlier this year was a different market entirely. The $88K seems like SPF GT40 money.

They have a spf right now with a non-roush small block and I have to admit the odometer shows 1500 miles but it looks like more than that to me and they are asking 66K and they will get it, earlier this summer they had two new spf with roush 427 and was asking 74,900, I asked they guy what they will actually sell for and he said 70K, and couple weeks later they were gone. KMP297 will be on its way to France shortly..........I think it was a good buy for the buyer and I am happy with the price.

Brian- Good luck with your search, bud. As I'm sure you are well aware, sometimes the search for something new can be the most rewarding part (well........besides DRIVING the "something new"!).
We still need to get together for some golf sometime. We just need to sit down at a PC and make it happen. |
decooney ~ yea, besides an original you would think the Kirkham is the ultimate......and it probably is. I found it too nice to drive and felt uneasy leaving it parked somewhere. The FE added to its originality although I am not a mechanic by any stretch or the imagination. My thoughts are a street version (no scoop, rollbar or side pipes) if I found a great deal on something, SPF, ERA, etc. Something used and something I could jump in and take a long cruise in and not be afraid of getting rained on. With the Kirkham, if there was a cloud in the sky it didn't leave the garage. A GT40 is also interesting......we will see.

I am excited as Russo and Steele has accepted my car into their auction for the Jan, 2009 auction in Scottsdale. I guess I will find out one way or the other what the market will bear. At least I am able to put a reserve on the car so protect myself.

What kind of commission do you have to pay the folks at Russo & Steele? Do you still have to pay them something if the car doesn't sell?

If it sells a 10% sellers fee. If it doesn't then just the entrance fee of $850 (if the car sells they waive this). I figure with the deeper pockets of some of the people that go to these auctions, if it doesn't sell there then I will sit on it for a year or so and see what the economy does.
