New years day run .

Well the weather co-operated again for us. 17 Cobras, a GT40 and 2 Mustangs.

Great run, great people. Pics to come.

Did anyone else notice that Mikie's car went 5MPH faster up the hill this time? Did anyone else notice that Mikie waved for me to pass him, around a hairpin turn, going down the hill? Wonder what he was trying to tell me?

Maricopa 01-01-2009 06:06 PM

Yep, good weather and cool temps, plus all the cops were busy with other fish. Can't beat that.

I vote we find a new restaurant next year. Long waits and undercooked chicken...blah.

mikiec 01-01-2009 06:32 PM

My chicken was OK. Long waits.. What did you expect with a crowd of 30 people.
Restrauants are limited on New Years Day. If you have a suggestion for next year let me know.

Karl... I waved you to pass well before the turn. It just took that chebby motor that long to catch up.

A great ride to start the new year. As to next year, since we think the cafe at the top of the hill will be open next year and since the Pres has their phone number and they specifically requested that we call and let them know we'd be coming, I suggest that we try the place at the top of the hill....or not. If the weather is as good as it was today, we could even go over the mountian to Prescott and try the country club there.

Mulv 01-01-2009 07:14 PM

Great to see everyone again and had a blast listening to Nancy whimpering on the way up the hill. She actually said she felt safer when we had the Cobra

Truly a glorious day for weather and good to turn another year behind.

I hope 2009 is the best year so far that any of you guys ever have.

I am with Mikey, 30 people all at once is tough. Besides, Bob and I were served first so I think that they were right on the ball :)

Bob said he loves hamburgers, if you want an alternate try this place, it is really good:

We drove by that place on the way home.... Closed.

The place on the top of the hill does have good eats.. However, A group of 30 or so would overwhelm the place. Prescott might be an idea.

Mike, thanks for organizing a great day, I appreciate it and had a great time. I took some interactive (click on the photo to move around) panoramic photos and will post more as I process them. Below is a link to one I processed today. Should work with recent versions of Flash (almost everyone has Flash installed on their computer) but works best if you have the latest version of Flash installed which you can get here:

Here's the link to the panorama site:

Hope it works okay.

Prescott would be higher and colder. I didn't see a problem with today's results but the restaurant on top would be OK too, provided they knew we were coming. We would fill up the joint where the Wickenburg Country Club can handle ANY number, larger (or smaller).

WOW Sandy, that is some kind of photo. I have never seen one like that from a still camera. Way beyond my mental comprehension. Why not just use a video?

OK next time we pic-a-nic in the lot next to the little restaurant.

That was one cool pic, thanks!

Yeah, you're right, a video would be nice but this way you can take your time, peruse and look around at whatever you want and the clarity is better. BTW if you have a wheel on your mouse you can use that to zoom in and out quickly to look closer at stuff. Probably the best would be to have a video AND an interactive panorama, which is the latest technology. They mount a special 360 degree by 180 degree view video camera on top of the rollbar so you can look around interactively as the car is going down the road -- you can choose to look ahead then pan around and see what's going on behind all while the car is moving. Imagine that with High Def and Dolby surround sound with the camera on top of a F1 racer -- whoa!! Very expensive now for the equipment. It's coming though, here's a crude example (takes awhile to download). Click and drag around on the video to look around. You can also pause the video and look around at any time. So cool!

Sounds like I missed a fun one. Sorry about that, I think I was up too late for new years eve. I didn't wake up until after you were already gone, spent the day with the fandamily. Sandy great panoramic shot and good video footage too!
Looking forward to hopefully doing more this year...

Happy New Year to Everybody!!!

Jim,

Most of us were up late. We have our priorties. :):)

What you need to do is make the run by yourself and then all will be forgiven. :):)

Mike, thanks for a great trip. I had no problem with slow service because it was more time to talk with the other lunatics.
Sandy, very cool photo!

mikiec 01-02-2009 09:52 PM

Pete,

Sorry we did not get a chance to talk.
