Oh, THAT Iron Duke. I've never been interested in four cylinder engines, except the Cosworth Vega, which was rather facinating, for its day.

Paul Gillespie 02-22-2009 01:23 PM

Good to hear that you are OK. I have a Iron Puke in my first car 1978 Chevy Monza Coupe. Had a piston fall apart around 97,000 miles, broke the crank on the rebuilt about 7,000 miles after installing it. That car would 0-60 in about 2.5 days. My first Ford Escort had 183,000 miles when I traded it in, my second Escort I had 210,000 miles on it when I turned it in, I had to replace the head on that car after about 175,000 miles.

Dang Karl that sucks. Glad you weren't banged up to bad. The car can replaced. However am I going to have to take th brunt the chebby jokes now?? :)

Chebby jokes? What chebby jokes? Has anyone around here heard any chebby jokes?

Fitz 02-22-2009 11:08 PM

Holy %/Crap Karl. Getting old is hell. Glad you are OK. Doesn't take but a few seconds to wake you up in these things.

Madmiles442 02-22-2009 11:41 PM

Glad to hear you're okay. Doesn't take but 2 seconds for these things to get out from under you. You're photos are a nightmare I've had for the past year after arriving 20 seconds after a close friend had a serious wreck in his Cobra.
Time to give the wife and kids (both, if applicable) a kiss and tell them how much you love them.

Bob Broberg SPF667 460BB 02-23-2009 09:00 AM

Karl, you are welcome to borrow my cobra during your down time when I am comitted to other things. I know I'm not exactly next door, but the offer stands. I know you would take care of it.

AZ Bob

Karl Bebout 02-23-2009 12:06 PM

Bob B. Thanks for the kind offer but I'd be 'way too nervous about driving someone else's pride and joy. I know you've got a whole buncha guns. I'm going to take a hard look at my rear suspension and the differential. The way the car acted was just plain wierd and I'm wondering if there wasn't some sort of mechanical issue that did me no favors. I've gone out to the scene of the crime and there's not any noticable dirt or gravel that would have caused my failure to control.

Hollywood 02-24-2009 12:31 PM

Dang Karl what were you thinking? LOL

I am really glad to hear you are ok after the launch! Looking for someone else to run up Front with on the next big run!

Just glad the pony tail survived with you attached.

Take it easy big fella and I hope that adjuster does it right.

Jim

Ah.... Just have at Totaled and buy a Sherman.

Mike

Danr55 02-24-2009 03:02 PM

Hey Karl, If you want to buy a Hedgehog, I know someone with one for sale..

Bob Broberg SPF667 460BB 02-24-2009 03:21 PM

Good thinking Karl. I would look at shocks, shock mounts, springs, A-arms and all your welds. You have too much experience to let your car "get away".

AZ Bob

mikiec 02-24-2009 07:16 PM

I think the car was tired of running a chebbie motor. All the other cobras would talk behind it's back. Snickering and making fun of it. Finally decided it had enough.

"SUICIDE IS PAINLESS."

MIKE,
What is all this bad mouthing Chebbies. This is coming from a man who talks with garbage cans.

Danr55 02-25-2009 12:10 AM

WHat's wrong with talking with garbage cans? Doesn't everyone?

csx4910 03-02-2009 09:49 AM

Karl,
I haven't heard anything else about the status of your car but if it is totalled I do have my superformance for sale. I bet that big block chebbie would fit nicely!! Let me know if you might be interested in talking. I had a buyer lined up for it but they just backed out
Ron

WildBill1965 03-02-2009 01:09 PM

4 cyl chevy II motor 120 HP that will keep you from driving off road.

Karl Bebout 03-02-2009 04:13 PM

Ron, I could never consider pulling that 511 out of your car. I am very impressed with them, even if they do resemble a FoMoCo. (I know my biggie-rat motor would fit. I have a friend with a Superformance and a Chevy 502. Nice combination, to those twisted souls like me).

Bob Broberg SPF667 460BB 03-02-2009 05:54 PM

Karl, that SPF has a 514 (460 stroker), his Shelby has the 511 (FE stroker)

Just helping out the disadvantaged Chebby lovers.

AZ Bob
