Official challange
April 25, 2009....
Yes, I know this is the Knotts show weekend. The Phoenix area gang challenges the Tucson gang to a joint gathering with the loser providing ice cream. Time and place to be negotiated and agreed upon. Mike |
We are considering it. Was that a gloved slap to my face ? You had better have a lot of the Susan B. Anthony dollars in your pocket.
|
John,
You have been slapped on both sides of your face.:LOL: If the 25th does not work for you we could do the 9th of May. mike |
" You had better have a lot of the Susan B. Anthony dollars in your pocket." Why John, are you afraid that with all of the weight he's lost, he might float away? It certainly isn't because you expect to have more Tucsonian members show up than Pheonician members is it? That would be a laughable thought. Has it ever happened?
(If that sounded like a gaunlet hitting the ground, that's exactly right!) |
Hey Mike, I see that there is a slight spelling "challange" in the title here... Ginny will use Sister Elizabeth's ruler on your fingers for that..
|
Hey Mikiec, It's can't be on the 25th because it's my son-in-laws birthday and I have to get a card and mail it and then phone him a Happy Birthday. You know that that will take up the entire day. On the real side, I have emailed our Tucson guys about which date they would prefer but haven't received any response yet. The 25th looks good, shall we meet in Florence for breakfast and go from there to parts of Arizona that we haven't been to before ? I can put together an interesting route if you want me to. John
|
John,
Sounds good to me. Mike |
John, Mark and I are tied up on the 25th so you would have to count our two cars out. We could do the 9th though.
|
If anything changes in your schedule please come and join us. Hey Mikiec, I have mis-placed Bob B's work schedule, is he working on the 25 th or the 9th.
|
I am working both days. I am sorry guys. 2 more years to retirement. I can make the Picnic and the 66 Fun Run. I do appreciate your efforts. I know it will be hotter but I am off 3 Saturdays in a row in May. The 16th, 23rd and 30th.

Offical Challange
Marilyn, after a few ..has an open challenge:LOL: to ANY Cobra to a drag race with her MINI!! This is a one day a year challenge!!!
Happy 4/1 Bill P.S. The Willys is 98% finished. |
John, with all due respect, I don't think you read my post well. Mikliec suggested the 25th and/or the 9th of May. Because of his suggestion, we are asking for consideration for the 9th. If you want to blow us off without any consideration so be it, but I am suggesting that if there is a choice, the 9th is better for not only myself and Mark but at least two other Tucson Cobra drivers that I know of, and the four of us make up are like 30% of the number of Cobras that show up from Tucson. The key is to get a good turnout, have some fun and enjoy the comradarie. If the 9th doesn't work so be it, but I think you should at least run both dates up the flagpole with the Phoenix group and the Tucson group before finalizing the date, who knows we might be able to get some free ice cream this time.
|
Tom, you are correct, i did "blow off" the 9th because I expect to be out of towm. Who would buy the Phoenix guys a Dairy Queen if I wasn't there?
|
John,
If the 9th works for everyone else and you can't make the 9th--no worries I'll buy. :D You represent our fine group of Cobra owners in Tucson very well, but every time a challenge comes up, you always seem to forget the "Rules of Challenge", and fold like a cheap suit from Maxwell Street. Being from Chicago you ought to know what that means. You need to better understand the "Rules of Challenge" which never allow the challenger to select the weapon, the time and place of the challenge and the penalty. The typical rules would allow the defender, once challenged, to select the time and place or weapon. The Phoenicians are the challenger and have also apparently selected the weapon (how many cars show up) and the penalty for loosing the challenge (free ice cream) and to some degree would like to select the date as well. As defenders of the challenge we have the right to at least select the time and place, which of course should be advantageous to us, just as the weapon (the number of cars) is apparently advantageous to the Phoenicians. Don't fold so easy John. If the date is so important to the Phoenicians then we get to pick the weapon that is advantageous to us. I'm a competitive guy, and never give all of the advantage (choice of weapon, and choice of time and place and penalty) to the challenger. John come on fire up---lead us to victory. **) |
The date is in the hands of you guys.... I and our gang can do either. I suggested the dates, threw out the gauntlet. John thought of a new run.
As far as the rules go..... The previous winner sets the rules :):):), and by my count we are unbeaten. :):):) I tried to get some of the Tucson gang riled up at our last gathering. We need more Tucson participation. Mike P.S. John switch weekends. |
Mikiec, What rules are you looking at? Previous winners don’t get to set the rules. The defenders of the challenge always have the chance to pick weapons, time or place. I’m with nightenforcer about the rules. We still need to negotiate the final rules of engagement for this challenge. You guys up north are always trying to take advantage of us small town folk. Go get them John. :3DSMILE:
|
"Go get them John" I went to the bank today and purchased a bunch of $2.00 dollar bills. I'm not worried, I kow how the "Challenge" will turn out. The Tucson Cobra guys are like the U of A basketball team, lots of talk but no show.
|
2torqued...
The king of the sand box always sets the rules. John, As in all the previous years I too will have be making a trip to the bank. Mike |
The "Trail"
Eat at Tortilla Flats; proceed quickly up Apache Trail to Roosevelt Lake overlook? Best time without dying?:rolleyes::LOL:
|
Hey Fitz, If you guys want a REAL challenge come on down here and do the Arivaca run with us. I'll buy the coffee at the start and we'll see how fast you guys can get to Arivaca to unload that coffee. Best team gets free coffee at the Gadston Coffee House in Arivaca. Remember, 23 miles of continious twisting and turning roads with off camber turns and elevation changes into the unkown.
