Picnic

OK, It's picnic time again.

April 18th at Rattlesnake cove. 10am til.? As always, I'll bring the charcoal, and condiments.

Remember to stop at a local sporting goods store and get your Tonto national Forrest day pass.

Given my history someone else can post directions.

Hey, Mikie, the Carefree/Cave Creek Fiesta Days Rodeo Parade is on April 4th this year so we will miss them. This will make it easier to travel through town. As usual we will gather at the Chevron Station on Carefree Hwy just west of Cave Creek Road and leave as a group. Times to come. Here is the Google Map trip: Takes almost an hour. Get your Tonto pass at Sportsman's Warehouse. I'm sure Cabelas and Bass Pro Shop both carry them also.

We're gonna have to miss the festivities this year. It's my daughter's Sweet 16 birthday weekend and she's having a party on Saturday. Bummer - this will be the first one we missed since we moved to AZ.

Hope everyone has a great time. Eat an extra couple burgers for us!

mikiec 04-07-2009 10:32 PM

Move the party to the cove.

Anyone needing guidance can meet me at the Chevron Station on the Carefree Highway just east of Cave Creek road for a 9am departure. It's about a 25 mile but 50 minute ride to the picnic site. There is a large convenience store there for snacks and drinks and fuel. Do not speed in the park, you will be sorry.

Also the 101 Northbound from Baseline to the 202 will be closed.

Brian, the Monza went only 11.40/110 MPH when I made the cardinal sin with nitrous. I ran out of gasoline. Obviously, I thought I had plenty and the fuel cell has foam in it so I couldn't check. I was going to go through most of the old gasoline with a 100HP spray and then put some fresh 112 octane in for running a heavier dose. Anyway, the engine died, wouldn't crank over until I pulled the plugs and let the coolant run out Sprayed water out both banks when I cranked it. Haven't pulled the heads yet, since working on the Cobra takes priority. I'll be taking its chassis to Superior for Jack Kube to install the new NAF body he's making for me, in a couple weeks. I'll then bring it home and start putting everything together. Hope to be on the road by late summer or early fall. I'll get after the Monza while Jack is doing his thing. Ain't life great?
