Wickenburg Gun Shw
Just a note to all you gun-totin buckaroos: A few of us are driving up to the Wickenburg Gun Show Saturday am. http://www.azarms.com/Wickenburg/ We should be there 10am-ish. Ken, Jeff, Mike and I are all traveling together. No, not in the cobras. Rain possible. You are all welcome to join us. Probably some lunch in there somewhere. Mike's buying, he just doesn't know it yet.

Hi there Bob,
You guys don't know how lucky you are to still have guns to show. Our useless Government made them illegal years ago and had a major 'Buy Back' whereby you handed your guns in and they paid you for them.
That's what all the law abiding citizens did. Now the only ones with guns are the cops and the crooks. Doesn't make sense to me. Next they will want my Boomerangs and Spears.
Take care now. By the way, I loved Oak Creek and Sedona when I was over your way a few years ago touring in a Motor Home. Got a great kick out of a Gas Staion attendant (female) near Death Valley who said and I quote exactly,:
"You guys talk funny. Where you from now?" I replied, "Sydney Australia." She replied."What part of the States is that in?" At this point, my 12 year old son dropped to the floor with tears pouring from his eyes and laughing so much, he almost wet himself. This was made worse when she said," Man. You sure have a happy family. Did you drive the Motor Home from Australia?" Fortunately she was of the minority and we have a few over here too.
Take care and enjoy the Gun Show. If we are ever over your way again, would love to catch up. The same goes this side. If any of you guys are coming down under and want some good ole Aussie hospitality, just yell.
Baz

Baz, I hear that the new crime of choice down there is home invasion. Rates increased something like 1200% after they took away the guns. Can you verify any of that?

Home Invasions in Sydney are on the increase, but only marginally. 10% increase would be the max. The increase wasn't because they took the guns away. It was after they started letting a certain race of people into the Country who would rather commit crime than work and possess the desire to rule the world. No names. No pack drill. Hint..9/11.

Mikie found some primers. I made a bid on a snub nose 357 but no good, Jeff bought an original, in the stock cleaning kit for his AR-15 and Ken blessed us all. Mikie drove and bought lunch.

Squirrel might be the right term. Probably a gov't agent checking on firearms. Just my opinion. It's a wide open site, ya know.

Hi sdfletch,
PACK DRILL:- It's meaning is "To say nothing and avoid disappointment." The phrase goes back as far as 1845 when it was a punishment given to British soldiers, requiring them to undetake drill in full uniform whilst carrying a heavy pack. "No names - No pack drill" is used to indicate that the names of those who have committed a misdemeanor will not be mentioned in order to spare them punishment. The "Pack Drill" punishmentis also recorded in a memoir of the Indian Treaty negotiations which took place between British and Native Americans in Canada in the late 1860's. It's a common phrase used in Australia and I'm quite surprised that you haven't heard it before.
You might be able to answer a question for me. I responded to this thread in good faith and let you know how dumb the Gun Laws are 'Down Under', compliment you on your great country and extend the hand of friendship for any Cobra lovers visiting our Country and I get referred to as "A car nut guy", "Secret Squirrel", "Squirrel" and "Government Agent". I'm confused.
Baz

I think he is referring to me as the squirrel etc. I have used Carnut on number of car sites and a number of members know that I have been labeled as a squirrel (the nut part).
So there you have it.

Baz,
No one called you any of those things, Sir. Actually, I live with a brit and she had never heard of it either. Rather old use it would appear. Today it migt be referred to as corporal punishment, I think. From my military days there were times when ALL suffered from the errors of one or a few. Relax, we love you guys down under.

I made the reference to "The Squirrel we all know". Notice that was Car Nuts 1st post. I was not sure it was a long time buddy but since it was in the AZ. area and he has used that moniker for years it was a good bet. It was him BTW.
Meant as good fun between us and no intentional shot taken at anybody ... except that squirrel guy Carry On, I'll be in your area all day!

Hi Mike,
Bernie is nature's gentleman. The Aussie Carrol Shelby. I met him at the Aussie Cobra Nationals a few years ago. I know he's been over your way a few times. He really looked after Hershal when he came over recently. I've only met Aussie Mike on this site. There's not much he doesn't know about Cobras. Craig could possibly be Craig White from Brisbane. He is bringing RCR Roadsters, Coupes and GT40's into Australia from the US now and selling them as either kits or turn keys.
Thanks for the chat.

Hi to all my friends there in Az.
Mmmmm it's a dry heat...
Yes sorry I have not been over for a little while, but things have been very busy here and I have limited travel to local regions. The Nationals at Wakefield Park Raceway last weekend was the first event I have been to for a while...
Missing the US activity in Az. and Texas - Hershalville. I did want to catch up with Hershal at the Run N Gun but sent Andrew over to assist in keeping him company.
I will try and catch up withe them on the phone in the next day or so...
Take care all. Talk soon.
Bernie
