What became of this Butler?

What a monster!!!

I'm surprised that I've never seen this car before. It's perhaps one of the most radical Cobras I've ever seen, with obviously a lot of money spent to build it to such a high spec.

Does anyone know the car?

The only car I've ever seen with a roll bar like mine.

Ralphy 09-28-2010 08:09 PM

It's hard to tell, but is that a single white strip?

Pretty damn nice!

I think they're fairly common among the Arntz/Butler cars.

Ralphy, the link in the first post takes you to more photos. It has dual stripes:

Thanks for the pic, Don - what a pretty little car! **) Here's another one with the factory roll bar option:

I like those rollbars. Not sure how comfortable they would be for the passenger though.

Ralphy 09-29-2010 09:51 PM

750hp, the computer I was at blocked the link at the time. The roll bar looks to be about the strongest design out there for a 3 point.

Over 400 views and so far nobody can identify this standout car.
I wonder if placing your query on the general discussion forum may have more success.
It'd be nice to find out where this car is now. It certainly looks special.

if anyone does know anything about this car id like to know the front and rear wheel offset/tire size , who made the 3 point roll bar,and who made the exhaust:)

BT SNAKE 10-03-2010 03:54 PM

If that think has a drive shaft it can't be more than 3" at the max.
Nice Cobra. I thought I seen this car in a magazine feature
four or five years ago. I think it was Kit Car.

Hersh:)

Just an FYI, The drive shaft on my Butler is 6 1/2" long from yoke center to yoke center. You're right pretty short.

Aurther,
Does your Butler have the engine set as far back
as this one. That engine is at least 6" further back.
The hood scoop is moved back too.

Hersh:)

SoTxButler 10-11-2010 08:23 AM

Mine is set back at least 8" or more. The stacks for #4 and #8 are partially under the cowl.

I think all Butlers were set back that far. I have another Butler here in McAllen that is for sale and it set back that far as well.

Yes, mine is set back that far. That is standard with the Butler. As mid-engine as you can get for a front engine car.

I'm trying to get more informations about the built , previous owners and full history about the cobra , we have done some body and frame restoration so far , and now moving to full service , there is a little leak in the gear box , which is made by Richmond and carries those numbers : HD 71-58112
&
72-21003 DW 9/25/89

Tires are : front Hoosier 25.5X10.0-15
rear Hoosier 27.5X11.0-15

I will post more photos and specs later for now if anyone could help tracking this beauty I wil be so glade cause its frustration to go blind
