Cobra from Qld to Victoria

Hi all, just wondering if anyone has had any recent experience with purchasing a car registered in QLD and then re-registering it in Vic????

I have a fellow who is interested in purchasing my car and I thought I'd make a few initial enquiries. Hope I don't put the mockers on myslelf.

Kind regards

Matt:rolleyes:

Matt

Sadly I think our Vicroads can be quite hard sometimes wanting compliant bits and pieces. I think the days of compliancy to another State's requirements is not taken too much into account.

That said, get an inspector that is a car buff and a lot can be overlooked.

If non-compliant items are too overt I think most cars would get through. Live pipes might be an obvious no-no.

This is all just hearsay an other mate's experiences so pay no strick heed but there is a risk I believe.

Good luck on the sale.

Perhaps get the Victorian to talk to one of our club members?

Cheers

Investigatons

Hey BJ, well yeah strictly speaking yes they should but a bit of investigatuion up front may waylay any fear or misguided info they get.
It's easy "r" for us as we know the game and the BS involved and the ways around certain issues, where as others not savy to the ICV world may get put off....

I just like doing my own research so as I can help the buyer jump through the necessary hoops without too much pain...

Just being friendly I guess. I was lucky when I bought mine as Ozvenom worked through the issues with me.....

We'll see what happens....thanks too all in advance..

Matt,

I went the other way round and it was a 5 minute no brainer at Qld Transport. I know that's near on useless info %/ , but you never know.

According to VicRoads if you are buying a vehicle from interstate the information on the above page applies.

Side pipes are ok provided they have heat shielding - according to my defect notice :-(

Good luck with the sale

You should call Vic Roads. If the buyer calls - he/she may get confused and lose interest. Matt you could also check with someone like Warwick Harrison who probably has real experience of this issue.

Cheers,

Merv

Thanks Loby and Merv.... I can easily run my underbody system and all that for the buyer if required. Seems easier to do than a NSW transfer...

I'll wait till a deposit arrives before going too much further.

Whatever is meant to be will be. It'll stay in mothballs until it sells. My new project should be ready for unveiling in March. Most people I think will not like it but it'll fit my needs and interests perfectly!
