Looking great Wazza. I notice you banana benders tend to mount your third brake lights on the boot instead of further forward near the roll bar. Any reason for that?
Sambo thats usually done if you want to fit Soft/Hardtop roof on the car later, doesnt interfere at all when its on the boot...

Wazza 07-10-2010 09:46 PM

Another stage out of the way.

It's a bit of " One step forward and two steps back" at the moment.

Picked the car up from the painters Friday, and back to the warehouse....

Now some weeks of putting all the bits back on as it was before painting...

Some long days coming up...but plenty of fun.

Cheers,
Warren.

Wow, that looks fantastic. I love the pin stripe on the edges of the big stripes.

Be careful putting it back together. Its possible the paint is still soft and will mark easily.

Zedn 07-11-2010 01:27 AM

Wazza that is an awesome looking colour. The combo looks fantastic, you must be very pleased.

Cant wait to see it assembled.

Mando 07-11-2010 03:39 AM

Those colours, stripes and pin stripes look lethal, fantastic combination.
Do all Harrison kits have recesses for the badges?

Regards.

Thanks guys...I wasn't sure about the colours...and in the end I'm VERY happy with them.
Started ideas on this car about 6 years ago, and always intended it to be Grey...and then watched as about a dozen Grey Cobras were coming off the assembly line...
So went VERY Dark grey....
The stripe pretty well matches the centres of the wheels, so I think it should look o.k. when it's all finished...fingers crossed.

I thought the recessed badge would look cool.......wanted it to make the car look a bit different.....pretty happy with the result.

Had some other bits and pieces made as well....mouldings around indicators and tail lights etc., which give it a few touches that look a bit different...all part of the fun in making the cars a bit individual without changing the "Look" too much.

I'll get it back on the wheels and fit some of the bling, and post some more pictures if anyone is interested.

cheers,
Warren

Recessed badge is more aerodynamic as well! It's coming together nicely now.

In that last photo (looking between the two Cobras), do I see hundreds of photos of people? Last time I saw something like that was one of those true crimes shows where they delved into the mind of a serial killer with his trophy wall covered in photos of his victims... %/

Not that I'm casting aspersions, but I'll be sure to stay on your good side!

I must be EXTRA creepy....there's PLENTY of potential victims in the warehouse.

Realized one day that I have a squillion photos on the computer, that I don't take the time to look at....so printed off a pile, and stuck them on some MDF...a few sheets of clear acrylic, and I get to see these every day...

Actually going to make a few more soon.....

Had a few of the guys come here on Saturday to check ut the new car, and all had a good browse around the photo boards.

Cheers,
Warren.

Phew, I feel beter, I thought after a few weeks ago if Wazza was a psycho killer, there may be a big picture of me with a big red circle around it.

Car is looking great Wazza, I too like the little touch of sunken badge.

Aussie Mike 07-11-2010 11:09 PM

That's a great idea Waz. I might have to try that in my shed.

The Cobra is looking terrific. Keep us posted with pics as is comes together.

Cheers

Wazza 07-12-2010 12:55 AM

Someone asked me about this on the weekend, so I thought I'd chuck in another pic....

Gave the Bonnet ( Hood ) an extra inside skin to make a smooth finish.

Had this on my old Cobra, and always liked that "Oily smooth" look , rather than the bumpy fibreglass finish.

I know most of the Cobras have this, but thought someone might be interested anyway.

Cheers,

Warren

Mando 07-12-2010 01:05 AM

I thought every Cobra looked like that under the bonnet and boot.
Obviously not!!
I notice the holes for the bonnet rivets or bolts don't go all all the way through the bonnet.
What type of fixings do you plan to use?

Regards.

Looking GREAT Wazza. Have you simply inverted your original colour choice? I really like the lighter pin stripe and the recessed bonnet decal. Very nice!

Wazza 07-14-2010 01:58 AM

About 6 years ago, I started writing out what I'd like to have in a Cobra.....
427 cu in.
Knock off wheels
Live side pipes.. ( bailed out on that idea also)
Good brakes/gear box
Fat arse wheels/tyres...

You know ...the usual stuff,

And I had a mental picture of the colour being along the lines of "Eleanor" ( Gone in 60 secs)

There were no Cobras around that I knew of,with this colour...

Anyway...as the years went by, there seemed to be a LOT of Grey Cobras coming out, and I was starting to picture being at the Nationals, and trying to find my car in amongst all the others.....
Driving down the motorway a few months ago, and spotted this really dark grey on a Toyota RAV4....with the sun blasting down on it, it looked amazing...

Then still wanted to tie in the colour of my wheels, so that's the stripe.

Over the moon with the end result, and under floodlights (Warehouse) it looks pretty cool...well at least I love it, and that's the main thing.

Can't wait to get all the bits back on it...had the interior guy over yesterday, and we've already got plans under way.

Going to make the seats the same as these...

http://www.revolutionracegear.com.au...V=Primary&CDO=

I've got the buckets and adjustable rails all made, just need to start the covering , and plenty of other stuff to do.

Cheers,
Warren.
