Need your advice: finishing a GForce in Brisbane Qld
Hi All,
I've picked up a partly finished GForce kit, and looking for you recommendations on local:
- Painter
- Trim
- Exhaust (can you get around the live pipe issue in Qld?)
- Auto Electrician
- Engineer
Thanks a bunch.
After years of just reading, it's great to be part of the forum.

Hi there and welcome! I have a Harrison but maybe there are some aspects that will help you out. We know most of the good suppliers of the components and services you've listed. Some are perhaps not best listed on the Forum such as details of engineers, so how about you send me a PM or email and I'll send some info? One is easy - love pipes are out (on the road)!
There is also an active Club membership and loads of support available though there.

Ad Guy. What part of Brissy are you from?.
Northside or Southside?

Hi AdGuy, everyone will have their own preferences but to help where I can....
Painter - Not sure.
Trim - Anvid upholsterers at Capalaba
Exhaust - Venom Custom Fabrication (live pipes are a pig for noise and burns)
Auto Leckie - Peter Chunky Hancock. But he does this stuff in his spare time and not sure how much fo that he's got.
Engineer - Not sure

Well done Ad Guy - good choice though I might be a little biased.
Have you bought the LS powered jobby that was on ebay perchance?
Cheers

PM sent re engineer and for for painting come along to a Club breakfast and have a look over the cars and ask the guys there. Auto electricians are everywhere but Matt is dead right (above) about Peter. Why not do some/most of it yourself?
I notice Rebel 1 trying to see if you are from the North or the darkside of Brisbane ...

Yeah but ... but .... but .... I was being nice Merv.
You see, there are two guys I'd recommend for an exhaust system, one has already been mentioned .... a southside fella. The other has an exhaust shop at Kallangur/Petrie, that's northside. .... and.
The best refinish guy I know lives Northside.
So see, no ulterior motive at all, just trying to help the bloke. You don't think I'd give him hell just cuz he lives southside do ya?

Nah! You wouldn't do that Les. No way! AdMan seems on track and at the right point in his build, given current ADR issues and so on.

Just getting up to speed on posting and protocols so apologies for the mass response.
Merv thanks for the PM. I've been dreaming of building for years but with a young family it's probably not a reality and I can't wait to start driving.
I was also looking at the Backdraft which they will start selling in OZ later this year, but hey when opportunity knocks.
Slowly, yep that's the one. Should take delivery in the coming weeks. Mind you that DAX from Adelaide was also looking very interesting.
Rebel1, is Kangaroo Point considered South Side?
Thanks again to all for the advice.

Ad Guy, Kangaroo point is acceptable as we have investments in the area.
Headers and pipes from Venom Custom Fabrication at Springwood, talk to Scotty, or Fat Pipes Custom Exhausts, Anzac Avenue, Kallangur, ask for Les.
Refinish is a guy called Glenn, works from his home at Brighton (Northside). He can do all prep and primer at your location if you wish ( or his own place) then it goes away to a spray booth. I'll PM his contact details. He owns a cobra and has done heaps of top quality work.
Engineer, I'd recommend Ray Cross who comes up from Lismore way, and who does most of the Gold Coast and Brisbane cars. Again contact details by PM.
Welcome to the cobra scene.

AdGuy, Welcome to the Forum!
I haven’t posted for quite a long time and a lot has happened since then, I will be off for engineering in the next few weeks, but I wanted to let you know about a couple of local recommendations.
I have to agree with Rebel1’s recommendation for exhaust, Les at Fat Pipes was excellent and I ended up with a really good exhaust note. I only had from the cats back done as I built my own extractors but he can do the whole lot, he does heaps of custom work. He had a 55' chev with an LS1 that he was doing.
Fat Pipes was recommended to me by the bloke that did my interior trimming (I did the dash) who was my other recommendation, Outrage Motor trimming. One man show, Nick, he lives at Narangba, not far from the old Lakeside raceway. Works out of his shed and did an awesome job. He specialises in old VW's and has done a few street machines, check out his website, www.outragemotortrimming.com
I used the painter Warick Harrison uses (not entirely happy but the price was right), did all my own electrical and Ray Cross for my engineering.
Nothing like that 1st drive.
