Hi Dave,

I know the mcdonald Cobra and it would be my first choice. It is a show quality vehicle. Simple to change the auto out of it.

It has everything you want as well.

I would talk to mcdonald first. Just my humble op..

Cheers

Bernie

Cobra Wanted

Hi Dave,

I have a 1993 built DBA Cobra in Cairns for sale.
Last weekend we did the drivers parade at Townsville V8's and advertised it for sale there with a heap of enquiry.
Runs a 302 with C4 auto and 9 inch diff. Smith look a like VDO gauges.
Car was built in 1993 as a manual then changed at second owners request.
Pedal box etc are set up for manual, my understanding is DRB made the manual to auto swap and can return.
Dark metallic blue with silver vinyl stripes that can be removed.
Awesome car that I bought for my wife about a year ago as she cannot drive a manual due to knee surgery.
Now for sale as I need the room and I have another DRB manual Cobra.
Around the money you would like to spend and excellent value.

If interested send me and email and I will return photos or look at on Treads posted yesterday titled Townsville 400.

Very good Andrew (thanks for the PM). Nice photos - one at Palm Cove? I guess it goes up the Kuranda range nicely.

Well done (and Warren is still without a car ...)

Hi Warren and Merv,

Tom Casey (tomcat) from Mackay showed me through this site last week during Townsville 400.
Warren your new car is coming nicely, great colour choice, see you went with the circles like your old car. Have been looking after your old car although a little under driven due to you wet weather and I have been ordered to sell wife's blue cobra so driving it around with 4 sale sign.
Merv, yes the Cairns to Tablelands drive is awesome, recently changed the speed limit to 60 which is just crap! My favourite drive in still to Port Douglas, going to PD next weekend, will post photos and show you our special part of Aust.

The drive from Cairns to Port Douglas is second only to the Great Ocean Road IMHO.

Merv and Sharon 07-15-2010 02:43 PM

Thanks Andrew. The old Rex Highway was always a nice trip, if a bit exciting in the wet on the way down! Our local ones are the Noosa to Peregian coast road (now 60-80kms/hr) and several in the Noosa hinterland Obi Obi, Mapleton, Maleny, etc.).

We should have post on great Cobra drives at some stage.

Hi Rob,
I recently tracked down a 2001 fully finished Factory Five Cobra- the engine is from a 1987 donor and has 95,000 miles on it. The transmission is from a 1992 donor (not sure about the miles). The clutch and brakes are new- My question is this.. I can pick it up for $15,000 as is. Do you think that $15,000 is a good deal even with the high miles? I can always replace the engine... right? Any insight and advice would be greatly appreciated!

HA ! Prices are entirely different to the USA. I bought my rolling chassis and body for $20,000. about ten years ago ! $!5,000 would be a steal over here.
