Hello all,

Thought it was high time I stopped lurking in the shadows and introduce myself. My name is Peter and I live in Townsville in north Queensland. I've always loved the cobras, daytonas.

Unfortunately, I do have the know how to build one of my own (yet!!) but it is very much on my list of things to do. I have however just finished building a clubman style kit car which I hope to get registered in the next week or so.

If there is anyone who lives around my area, I would love to catch up and check out a cobra up close. If anyone is interested please email me at doogiesimpson at yahoo dot com dot au.

Cheers

Peter

Hi Peter,
Welcome to the forum
I am just down the road and around the corner from you at Sapphire.
There's a partially built Evans kit in my shed thats pretty close to engine start up stage. Feel free to drop in for a look.
I have an engineer (finally) in Townsville and suspect I will make a trip or 3 there.
Just can't wait to book the townsville race track for my testing lol.

Gary

There are a few Cobra guys in here in teh area, maybe we can organise a meet and put faces to names.

Hey guys,

Gary, which engineer are you using? as far as I'm aware, there are only two guys in Townsville that are about to do the engineering on ICV's. I was told to stay away from one of the guys as he takes a long to to do anything and can be difficult to deal with. Feel free to drop me a line when you are heading up this way, it would be could to catch up.

Boxhead, I have seen a cobra or two around town but they seem to be very elusive when it comes to finding out more about them. As above let me know which night you will be in town. It would be good to match names and faces.

Cheers

Peter

Hi Peter,

I've e-mailed one of our Queensland Cobra Club members who lives in Townsville...Mr. Col Hodson.. ( Most likely he'll be one of those elusive Cobra drivers you see out and about), and I've asked him to read this thread on the forum and get in contact with you.

Might help if you give us a contact e-mail or phone number so he'll see it .

Cheers,

Peter,
There are approx 10 Cobra's in Townsville and surrounds. We try to get together about every 3-4 months for lunch etc. sometime we just ring each other and go for coffee. We are also doing the drive by with the Ford drivers at the Townsville 400 (10 cars). I will give you a call today.

Anyone else coming to Townsville for the V8's, give me or lionel a call and we can arrange a get together.
My phone no. is Work 07 47 213522 or Home 07 47 887016

regards

Colin Hodson

Col

A belated inclination to attend but it's a bit of a marathon in terns of flights as availability, naturally, has dried up so it extends the visit from Wednesday 7th to Tuesday 13th.

What's accomodation like up there, booked to the hilt I guess?

Sadly my work project up there got shelved else it could have been an excuse via work. And we didn't catch up that only other time I got there.

Cheers

Steve
